Acting Principal's Report

Thank you

A big thank you to the families from our 2/3 unit who were able to be here on Saturday working on the Frog Bog. Our 2/3 students will be focusing on the Frog Bog and looking at it as an ecosystem this term and working toward encouraging local frogs back to it. Before this could happen, the area needed a bit of work to ensure that it was manageable for the students. Despite the forecast, the troops turned up and worked very hard. This is just another example of how our community comes together to not only upgrade one aspect of our school but make a real impact on student learning. Having the Frog Bog as a focus point of our students this term as they investigate life-cycles and ecosystems provides them with a real life context to put their learning.

Student Toilets

Speaking of improvements across the school, work will begin soon on giving our student toilets a facelift. This has been an area of concern for some time, and a lot of work has been going on to improve some of the facilities, and now some of the more visible work is able to begin. Brian, our handyman, will be working on one toilet block at a time over the coming months and they will be receiving some minor repairs, new paint on the ceiling and walls, and the floors will also be redone.

Student First Aid

Today all of our students participated in first aid sessions with St John's. These sessions allow students to understand what they are able to do in an emergency, how to call 000, and what information they might be asked for.

Enrolments

While 2020 is still a while away we are currently conducting tours for prospective families. If you know of friends or relatives who are looking for a school for their child, please mention us as word of mouth is one of the strongest ways that we are known across the area. Similarly, if you already have a child at Marlborough with a younger sibling starting next year, enrolment forms are available at the office. We appreciate these forms being filled in early as it allows us to begin to understand what our student numbers will be in 2020.

Open Night

Marlborough is hosting our annual Open Night on May 22nd, beginning at 6:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for all families to come along to the school and spend some time in classrooms, where our Numeracy program will be on show. A tour will be running at 6:30pm for prospective families, and there is a passport competition for families who visit key areas of the school and get their passport stamped.
