College Commencement Mass
The College Opening Mass was held yesterday (Tuesday 12 February) and for this week’s prayer I share a short extract from our scriptures at Mass. They all relate to our theme this year of Unity In Community.
Ecclesiastes 4:9
Two are better than one … If one falls, the other will help the fallen one.
Psalm Response
How very good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live together in unity.
Corinthians 12:4
Now there are a variety of gifts but the same spirit.
John 13:20
Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.
The College Opening Mass was a wonderful celebration where we committed our work – yours and mine, students and staff, parents and friends - to do our very best in study, sport, performing arts and cultural activities, in our friendships and family and all in unity in our community.
Fr Jim McKeon, our Parish Priest, beautifully broke open our scripture to capture what was at the heart of our school – our faith, our support and care for each other and our combined efforts as one to make a better world.
We were joined by Mr Peter Leuenberger, Deputy Executive Director of EREA and our Regional Director, and Br Carl Sherrin representing the Christian Brothers. The Church was full to overflowing and on such a hot day and I thank all students and staff for their participation in the great occasion.
