'Small Steps’ Presentation for Parents

Thank you to the 30 plus parents who attended the Small Steps presentation which I found to be very useful.  The presenter was very entertaining and interesting and the message I took home from it is 'early intervention is the best'.  Thank you to Ms Joe McCarthy and Mr Sean Brannan who also attended the event.

Walkathon

The boys were amazing - they ran and ran and ran.  They were putting themselves out for those less fortunate and they seemed to enjoy it!

Many of the boys had set themselves a goal and reached that goal so they were proud of their efforts.  Well done boys.  A special mention to Caleb Hanrahan for running with his arm in a sling and Jacob Magner who did 18 laps.

Now the other half of the process begins and that is to bring in your donations.

Grandfather, Father & Son Sporting Afternoon

Gentlemen keep stretching! Get the ice packs in the fridge! Yes it's time for the Grandfather, Father and Son sporting afternoon.

  • When: Thursday 31st August
  • Where: Oxford Falls Playing Fields – Dreadnought Road, Oxford Falls
  • Time: Sport from 11.45am – 1.15pm

Every boy will be involved in sport even if their dad/grandad can’t be there.  There will be two sessions of sport, 11.45am to 12.30pm and 12.3 pm to 1.15pm.  Participants can either play two different sports or stay on the one activity (except for tennis, where numbers may dictate one session only).  If you haven’t replied but can suddenly make it, please turn up.   Mr Virgona has planned the weather so all is in readiness!

Thank you to the mums and grandmothers who offered to help with the BBQ - I will email a note out today.

Collect Woolworths Earn & Learn for St Joseph's Primary School Walgett

The St Pius X College Social Justice group is collecting “Woolworths Earn & Learn” stickers to assist our partner school, St Joseph’s Primary School Walgett. This small, remote, mostly indigenous school we visit each year with our Year 10 immersion students will benefit greatly from our efforts as a larger Sydney school.

We encourage all parents who shop at Woolworths to collect and donate the stickers.  There will be a collection box in the foyer and students will be going around home rooms each morning to collect the stickers.  START COLLECTING and ask your Son to drop them in!

Football/AFL Presentation Evening

Write On Competition 2017 (Years 5-6)

Congratulations to all the boys for their entries in the Write On Competition.  Jack Lonergan (6 Gold) was selected to represent Stage 3 from the College with his writing entitled ‘The Shooting’ and an excerpt from his story is below. Good luck Jack.

"As the Chinese president’s Rolls Royce rounded the corner the buzzing and cheering grew louder. The streets were lined with tourists and residents who had been highly anxious to catch a glance of the new president. The previous president had died under suspicious circumstances and he did not have any living relatives who could replace him. However, as soon as the residents caught a glimpse of his face their anxiety turned into dread………… "
