Parents & Friends' News

Wow, how awesome was our Father’s Day ‘Festival’!?

Father’s Day Stall

Thanks to Mary and her team of helpers for setting up and running the Father’s Day Stall, as well as ‘secret’ classroom raffles for the Father’s Day hampers! We know a lot of work goes into selecting, ordering, organising and selling the gifts and organising the hampers (thanks for helping Mary with that Tina!) and we appreciate all of your hard work.

This year the Papas family donated the picture frames, Sam Mignone donated the leather coasters and we offered plant gifts from Corina Papasiz’ business (Rock a Pot), which were a hit, so thanks to all of you as well for your part in making the stall successful.

Father’s Day Breakfast

Big thanks again to Joe and Domenica Rinaudo for catering the Annual Father’s Day Breakfast! Over 200 people ate their way to the start of what we’re sure was a special weekend for our Dads and other special family friends and relatives. Joe and Domenica have been catering this event for quite a few years now and it’s no small feat! Shopping for food and supplies, coordinating cooking equipment and volunteers on the day, setting up the serving tables – it’s a lot of work but we know they enjoy the positive feedback and opportunity to acknowledge St Fidelis Dads in a special way.

Thanks to Piccoli Photography, Monza Carspa and Reading Cinemas Epping for donating the raffle prizes; please remember to give them your business whenever you can to show them your support. And last but not least, thanks to the P&F committee members and volunteers who brought the day helped make it happen and helped out on the day.

Hot Foot Days (HFD) update

Well, as we bid adieu to Bec as our Hot Food Day coordinator, we welcome Tina Papas, Mary Lombardozzi and Chris Insana as our new Hot Food Day Team for the remainder of this year and into next year!

Yes, it takes three people to do the job, which explains why Bec seemed to have a lot on her mind while she was rattling off orders in the hall kitchen. Looking after a toddler, working towards a new qualification and starting a new job may have also had something to do with it.

You’ll still have the opportunity to help out with food prep, delivery to classrooms, etc, so keep an eye out for HFD updates.

It’s reassuring to know that our HFDs are in capable hands and our kids won’t go hungry, which is a relief for many of us. On behalf of the parents and kids, thanks to Bec for her hard work in the past and thanks to our new team for stepping in.

2016 St Fidelis Student Art Show

Thursday October 27th

Every two years the P & F works with Catherine Archibald to organise the student Art Show. It’s a wonderful evening for families as it gives us the chance to see the creativity, expression and ideas our children can show through their artwork (under Catherine’s guiding eye and encouragement!)

We need some helping hands to prepare and organise the artwork, so if you are keen, have a good eye and are available, please meet any Monday or Wednesday at 2.45pm until pick up from this coming Wednesday 7 September, to help mount some of the artwork for the Show.

Help us fundraise for cancer patient wellness and research and supportive care programs!

The P & F has registered a team for the Olivia Newton-John Wellness Walk & Research Run on Sunday September 11th.  The walk is on the grounds of the beautiful La Trobe University Bundoora Campus and it will feature a 5km walk – led by Olivia Newton-John and a 5km and 10km run – lead by Australian Running Legend, Steve Moneghetti.

This can be a family or a 'you' activity - on the day there will be entertainment, children’s performers, sports activities, the Kingsbury Markets, sponsor activations, food providers and lots more.

Event partner Polaris is offering a special prize for the top 3 fundraising schools which are vouchers to purchase sporting equipment valued at $1000, $500 and $250.  In addition to this, the top fundraising school team will get a photograph with Olivia!

Help us help others, have some fun in the process, and with any luck we'll be able to get some more sporting equipment to help Mr Jennings train our future Olympians!

To register please visit the webpage -http://fundraisingoliviaappeal.com/event/WWRR16

Please ensure you register under the team name of: St Fidelis Catholic Primary School so that any funds you raise go towards our team fundraising. Note: your registration fee goes to cover the cost of the event, to fundraise you need to get people to sponsor you or make a donation.
