Community Library Launch

Our students have been lucky enough to design and paint the Little Street Library for Alchester Village. This wooden community library was developed by the Rotary Club of Boronia and built by the Diamond Creek Men’s Shed. The library was launched in front of the Koko Lime Cafe on Thursday 6th September by our School Captains, Principal Leanne Jennings and the KNOX Mayor, Cr John Mortimore.

Students across the school have been working on the design throughout Term 3. The theme for the library was inspired by French artist Henri Matisse. Students designed and traced unique shapes onto the library and filled them with patterns and characters. Bunnings donated beautiful paint colours to help us with this project.

Come and view our wonderful student’s artwork at Alchester village outside Koko Lime café!

“TAKE a Book, GIVE a Book, SHARE a Book.”

German Excursion

Last Tuesday, the Grade 5 students had a wonderful day at Heathmont Secondary College taking part in various activities with the German department. It was lovely to see our students using their German skills and feeling confident taking part in the Millionaires quiz, learning about a German artist whilst creating some abstract art and playing Germany’s most popular sport of Soccer. We were fortunate to enjoy a traditional German lunch of Bratwurst, Frankfurts, Bretzels and Apfelshorle which were delicious. I was very proud of all of our students who behaved impeccably and demonstrated great confidence. It was lovely to have many of our ex BHPS pupils assist with the day who are part of the German Bilingual program at Heathmont. This was a wonderful experience and we were very fortunate to have been part of it.
