News from our Classrooms

Foundation News

Today is Day 51 as we count towards 100 Days of School. I hope all the mums from Foundation LW had a wonderful day yesterday and I am also hoping that your special vouchers were put to good use! The Foundation students continue to enjoy learning from home and last week many pieces of fantastic learning were forwarded to my email. Some of the work included going on a number hunt at home, making their name using Lego bricks and writing about mum. We also had a Google meet using Google classroom. We are planning to meet each day at 11am to see each other and say a prayer together.

Year 1/2 News

The 1/2’s have been persevering with their remote learning this week!

In You Can Do It (YCDI) this week, we have been investigating what it means to be persistent. Throughout the remote learning, the 1/2's have been continuously demonstrating that they know how to be persistent in their learning! We are so proud of all of the efforts we see throughout the week.

The 1/2’s have also been learning a little bit about location in Maths. This week, they created a map of a playground. There were definitely some very creative and fun playground maps drawn up!

We have also been investigating some objects from the Olden Days. The students chose an object that was used in the Olden Days and found out what it was used for and if it is still used today.

Well done to the Year 1/2’s for another week of successful remote learning! Looking forward to seeing more of your learning!

Year 3/4 News

Year 5/6 News

Congratulations to the Year 5/6  students who are continuing to work hard and produce amazing work at home. The teachers are very proud of the independence, resilience and problem-solving skills you are displaying during this time.

The students and teachers are enjoying the opportunity to see and speak to each other in our ‘Google Meet’ every morning. It’s a chance for the teachers to explain the daily timetable and for the children to ask questions and voice their thoughts and ideas. It has been great to be able to connect to the students face to face in these meetings.

In Literacy, we have been learning how to further develop our skills when writing ‘Information Reports’. Focusing on the structure and features of an ‘Information Report’, students had the opportunity to practise their skills by choosing an animal as their topic. The students are to be congratulated on their informative reports, many of which included fascinating facts about their chosen animal. Integrating with our Inquiry ‘Australia in 2020 - How did we get here?’ students have also written an Information Report about Captain Arthur Phillip. Everyone should be very proud of their achievements in Writing in the past two weeks!

To end our week, (just as we had started), each of the Year 5/6 classes had a get together via ‘Google Meet’. It wasn’t about school work. It was an opportunity to chat and be together. Take a look at the photos of our meetings taken last Friday afternoon. There were some furry friends invited!

From our school captains

The school captains would like to say a massive thank you to everybody for their continued cooperation to make sure home learning is a great experience for everyone in our ever-changing world. We would also like to particularly thank the teachers for their hard work and dedication, ensuring that even though we can not be together that we are still learning. This new style of learning has definitely had its challenges, but we hope you have all learned something new through this experience.

Another addition to the school day that we have really enjoyed is our video meetings with teachers, that now all Foundation to year 6 classes are participating in.

We also hope that everyone spoiled their Mum on mother’s day and had a great time. Keep up the good work everyone and remember to stay safe!
