Prayer

Dr Wayne Tinsey, EREA Executive Director wrote to all EREA Schools last week and this week's prayer is drawn from this.  The full text of Dr Tinsey's letter is attached below.

"Recently I came across the following words from Felix Adler:

We should teach our children nothing which they shall ever need to unlearn; we should strive to transmit to them the best possessions, the truest thought, the noblest sentiments of the age in which we live.

The stark truth and profound simplicity of these words spoke to me deeply."

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord's work, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:58 CSB

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God - who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly - and it will be given to you.

James 1:5 CSB

A Personal Prayer

Help me to be a fine person, to keep peace, to be kind and gentle to each and everyone. Help me to be merciful, to give genuine praise, to give constructive criticism.

Help me to remain conscientious, to recognise what motivates those around me,

to accept my limitations.

Help me not to judge, to be fair to all, to be a good role model,

but most of all Lord help me to show your love to all.

ISA AND IPSHA SPORTS

The College enjoyed an excellent sports day last Saturday and I sincerely thank our parents for cooperating with the COVID-19 restrictions and observing the no spectator rule. I think everyone is just glad that the boys are playing sport.

We have continued this restriction again this week and there will be no spectators at the games at Oxford Falls.  Our Talus St Tennis courts will allow one spectator. We have included in the Sports section a suggested pick-up time for parents to return to collect their son as this may help organise your time.

Due to the ongoing restrictions in place, please follow the COVID-19 protocols below:

NO SPECTATORS PERMITTED

AT OXFORD FALLS

  • Individuals should not attend sport if unwell. If individuals have flu like symptoms, they should be tested for COVID-19 and should not return to sport until a negative result is confirmed and they are symptom free. If a positive result is received or they have had contact with a known case of COVID-19 they should follow all protocols and isolation advice as provided by NSW Health.
  • All players and staff must be listed and contact details be made available.
  • No spectators permitted at any ISA/IPSHA venue, drop off zones will be clearly marked inside the car park.
  • SPX carpark will be a NO PARKING ZONE.
  • No canteen or afternoon tea provided (students are to bring their own food).
  • All players to bring their own labelled water bottles. Water breaks will be scheduled by the referee.
  • The change rooms will remain closed, students should arrive ready to play. Toilets will be available, but players should refrain from changing in the toilets.
  • Players sanitise hands on arrival and upon leaving the campus. Hand sanitiser provided and available for use at the venue.
  • Hand shaking is not permitted between players.
  • Antibacterial wipes available for wiping of benches, soapy water available to clean equipment.
  • Players and Coaches to leave at the earliest possibility at the conclusion of the match.

The College will continue to review and amend these protocols as we receive directions from the NSW Government and the Independent Sporting Association (ISA).

Our students have performed really well in all our sports as well as the Friday night debating and I thank staff, students and parents for their continued support, cooperation and patience.

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY

Next Monday (August 3) the College will hold individual and class photos. Students must be in correct Winter School Uniform to be in the photos. There will no whole Year Group photos this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. These will instead be in class groups. Order forms have been distributed to students today (Wednesday).

The running order for the Performing Arts and other group photos can be found in the Parent & Student Matters section of this Woodchatta.

COVID-19 DISMISSAL PLAN

I have repeated below the plan published last term which outlines our process and dismissal for students in the event that any student or staff member tests positive. We have had no cases to date and let’s pray that this continues. However, we are proactive in our planning and I share this dismissal plan with you. You are invited to review this and discuss it with your son.

ACADEMIC AWARDS CEREMONY

Unfortunately as you recall this was due to be held this coming Friday however it has been cancelled. The College will acknowledge the many outstanding excellent achievements of the boys in the coming weeks and I will publish in Woodchatta the names of students who are to receive recognition.

P & F TRIVIA NIGHT (15 AUGUST)

It will be no surprise that the Trivia Night this year has been cancelled. I know the P & F would love to gather everyone together when we are able.
