PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Mrs Jillian Rainger

Catholic Schools Week

Last week ending with us ringing our bell in our new bell tower. Well done to Tom and Tori!

Covid 19

Thank you to families for keeping your children home if they are unwell. It is crucial for keeping everyone safe. Also, thank you to families for following up on absences by informing us of the reason. Please email, phone or write a note (the old fashioned but still ok method!) within five days of your child being away for our records.

Year 8 and 9 families have been informed that their end of term excursions to Tea Garden and Sydney have been cancelled. We should get clarification before the end of August about excursions in Term 4.

The CSO will be providing advice for families regarding travel.

Compass Parent Portal

We are moving towards cancelling our Skoolbag app subscription and moving towards using COMPASS as our parent portal. Our goal is to have every family being able to access the COMPASS portal by the end of the year. Our Semester 2 reports will be published only on the Parent Portal. In the coming weeks, we will be sending emails to families not currently on the portal with their log in details. Please make the effort to access the site as well as downloading the app for your mobile devices.

Online Behaviours

A number of playground/social difficulties come from online messaging and gaming. Please be aware of what is happening in your child's online world and discuss how to manage these interactions. Earlier this year we had the organisation Real Talk come and speak to students and parents about keeping safe online. We are looking at another guest speaker to reinforce social media behaviour for this second semester.

NCCD/School Census

This Friday, August 7 is our school census day. This is a legal requirement. Part of the Census is the NCCD process. Attached is a fact sheet regarding the NCCD. Our upcoming family conferences will be an opportunity for families to receive and discuss their child's current personal plan.

Seasons for Growth

This program will start for students in Year K-2, 5-10 this week. Due to our numbers who have nominated for this program, students in Year 3 and 4 will complete the program in Term 4. Thank you to Mrs Hollis for organising and running this program around grief and loss.
