St Anthony’s Primary School will be providing all learning remotely from Monday July 20th. Children will need a device to access remote learning. These devices have been distributed to families. The staff have planned to deliver each child’s program using a combination of Google Classroom, Dojo, Dojo Portfolios, video instruction, annotated video instruction, small group instructional lives sessions, independent tasks and specifically designed paper packs distributed to some learners who require differentiated and modified learning. Other learning resources will be used that students are already familiar with such as Purple Mash, Studyladder, Reading Eggs, SMART Spelling and Epic Reading.

This time around, we have been in a position to review our last period of remote learning and make improvements. Many of these changes will assist you in understanding the learning programs with greater clarity and consistency and include a set of expectations for parents and students.

The teachers will be available to support the learning of children during school hours, onsite on some days and remotely on other days to minimise the risk to their health and safety as much as possible. The weekly learning overview will be shared at the beginning of every week and the daily timetable communicated every morning. Google meets will run twice a day to ensure consistnecy for students and connection. Teachers will also be available for individual sessions with their students throughout the week. Work requirements will be submitted through Google Classroom for 3-6 and through Dojo Portfolio for P-2. Feedback is essential and work that will be marked will be clearly indicated to all learners. Feedback on student work will be delivered through Google classroom for 3-6 and through Dojo Portfolio for P-2. Children who need to share a device at home may access the learning at an alternative time if that suits family organisation.

High Expectations

Expectations (protocol posters that we have developed for Term 3) for Parents and Students should be followed at all times as this time around we know that accessing the planned learning gives learners the best possible chance of growth and improvement. Please read these expectations together with your children and please support them to BE PRESENT. It is an expectation that children will need to check in with a teacher each day.

This term we have developed our own Protocols to support our community through Remote Learning, Phase 2. They were designed collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure everyone has clear guidelines and expectations for learning and being present.

Please note that families need to have filled out the Term 3 survey and have confirmation by phone from a member of the leadership team to be able to access onsite learning.

The numbers of onsite learners at school in term 3 have increased significantly since the last phase of remote learning and we advise very strongly, if your child can be supported at home, please keep them at home or if they can be supervised at home for any days of the week, please keep them at home for those days and minimise the need for them to come to school. Supervision ratios at school will mean that onsite learners will need to be able to access their learning independently. It is important to understand that students will receive the same learning program at home, as those who attend school. All students will need a drink bottle, snacks, lunch, wear full school uniform and bring their school hat.

School Uniform for Onsite Learners

All students attending remote learning onsite at school are required to wear their full school uniform and school hat this time please.

Temperature Checks

Temperature checks are now a requirement for all students entering onsite. St Anthony’s has been supplied with infrared thermometers. During the temperature screening process, a student must record a reading equal to or below 37.5° Celsius. St Anthony’s has developed discrete protocols for temperature checks including accompanying the child and parent/carer to a separate designated space in the school should a reading be in the high range. For some students and their parents/carers, you may be asked to wait for a second temperature reading. Such instances will always be treated with sensitivity and reassurance.

Pick up and Drop Off Changes for onsite learners

Please note that during remote learning the valet drop off service is not operating. You are required to bring your child to one gate only.

Drop off strictly at 8.30am. Please do not drop off your child and go. They need to be marked on the attendance list by the teacher at the gate and temperature taken before you leave. All students will have their  hands sanitized upon entry and parents are required to sign a health declaration form every week.

To ensure consistency with physical distancing measures, students and families will not be permitted to congregate at the school gate before or after school, and will be required to maintain 1.5 metres between persons as far as is practicable on entering and leaving the school grounds.

All student drop off and pick up will be through on the following methods

Walking:

  • You may always park away from the school and walk with your child around the Hall to the entry gate next to the admin building and wait for the teacher to meet you, follow sanitizing procedures, temperature check before the student enters.

By Car:

  • You may park your car, walk around the Hall to the entry gate beside the admin building and wait for the teacher to meet you, follow sanitizing procedures, temperature check before the student enters.

SANITIZER AND TEMPERATURE STATION WILL BE SET UP AT THE GATE, STAFF ON GATE DUTY WILL USE THE NOZZLE DISPENSER TO APPLY TO ALL STUDENTS HANDS AS THEY ENTER. NO PARENTS/ADULTS PERMITTED BEYOND THE GATES.

Semester One Reports

Due to the current climate and Stage 3 restrictions, Semester One reports will be emailed out on Monday July 20th and Tuesday July 21st to those families who updated their email address in Term 2 as requested. For those families who have not provided the school with their email address, you will need to collect your children’s reports directly from the school office on Thursday  July 23rd between 9-11am, following social distancing procedures. You may receive a phone call advising you to pick up the student reports.

Parent/teacher Conferences

St Anthony’s will be conducting parent/teacher conferences in week 3 on Thursday July 30th and Friday July 31st. These will be offsite through the Zoom video conferencing tool. You will be contacted next week with booking information and interpreter information. On both days, teachers will be busy meeting with parents, therefore the learning organisation for the day will be set with no scheduled google meets or small group instruction.

Communication and Email

With limited access to the school site, communication with the classroom teachers or other staff may become difficult. If you need to speak with school staff either contact the office and leave a message, contact them via Dojo  or email the staff member directly. Please ensure the email is sent within working hours. Phone calls and Google meets are available for more detailed meetings.

Student Absences

The attendance roll is marked daily.  St Anthony’s is required to keep detailed records of student attendance in remote learning. Please ensure that your child attends. If your child is sick or family commitments mean they cannot attend learning on any day you need to notify the school as usual.

All absences must be reported to the office through one of 2 ways only:

If your child is sick (runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever) - please do not send them to school

I thank you, our parents, for your belief in our school, your support and kindness, for believeing in our purpose, and our ongoing commitment to the right of every child and person to flourish and be known.

This is a difficult time as we comply with the restrictions necessary for the health and wellbeing of our community. If your family or your child requires extra support, please contact me via email: principal@sanoblepark.catholic.edu.au  Please know that St Anthony’s staff are here to support your family during this difficult time.
