Visual Arts Overview for Virtual Creative Arts, Term 3

In Visual Arts, F-2 students will be learning about the Art Elements of Texture and Colour. They will try different ways to manipulate paper and other materials in creative ways. They will understand that we can use our hands to achieve a great many effects without needing tools and that we can use materials that are discarded and everyday items very creatively. They will make compositions using their imagination and their natural storytelling abilities. Famous authors and illustrators Eric Carle and Dr Seuss will guide some of their learning through this.

Levels 3-6 have begun developing skills and preparing papers for their art project, 'Belonging' based on the author and illustrator, Jeannie Baker. They will take a photo of a view from their favourite window and draw a cartoon of this to prepare for their ' Window View' collage artwork. Students have already begun exploring drawing implied textures, and taking rubbings from everyday objects around the house. They will create a collaged artwork also from collected items and use manufactured items as well as natural, found and discarded items. Please assist students to keep all their artwork together as they will use all these sketches in their final work. Also magazines, shopping brochures and newspapers and other scrap paper and cardboard will be very helpful for this project.

With thanks,

Ms Anisah
