Term Three in the Japanese Virtual Classroom

 

This term in Japanese, preps will be learning their numbers. They will have lots of opportunity to use them in different songs, stories and play-based activities. They will gain confidence using the numbers and have a chance to practice writing them in Japanese. Grade 1/2s will be learning about the life cycle through the Japanese version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. 

 

They will explore how living things change as they grow and also learn how to explain a change using a simple Japanese sentence. Grade 3/4s will explore Japanese summer festivals. They will discover what people wear, do and eat there. They will learn the bonodori dance, make an origami yukata and design their own Japanese fan. Grade 5/6s will be looking at why folding 1000 origami cranes has become an act that is a symbol of peace for Japanese people. 

 

They will explore the story of Sadako Sasaki, and  consider how under difficult circumstances, people can come together to look for the good in a situation and help each other out. Grades 3-6s will also have lots of opportunities to practice their language online through Quizizz each week.
