Assistant Principal Report

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Aristotle

As we draw to the end of another school term, I would like to acknowledge the efforts made by so many of our students and staff over the course of this term.

In Week 10, we acknowledged the successes of our Year 12 students in the academic, cultural and service areas. Congratulations to all Year 12 students in graduating from Brigidine College Randwick. We wish you well in your exams and your future endeavours beyond school.

Mental health

It is important to remember that a young person’s mental health is not fixed or static; it can change depending upon a range of circumstances. There is a continuum with positive mental health at one end, emerging mental health difficulties in the middle and more serious mental health conditions at the other end. Depending on circumstances, an individual can move back and forth along this continuum. This movement is influenced by a complex interplay of social, psychological, biological and cultural elements in one’s life.

Here at Brigidine we remain committed to building strong relationships with our girls through our Pastoral Care program. During our pastoral program, our girls explore positive emotions recognising that positive emotions can result in positive mental health. Similarly, when we recognise the good things in life and express gratitude we build positive emotions.

Over the holiday period, I encourage you to encourage your daughter to share with you their sense of gratitude. Perhaps you could encourage your daughter to go for a walk and take photos of the things that inspire gratitude. If, however, over the holiday period, your daughter is experiencing mental health concerns, please contact one of the following organisations.

Term 4 Summer Uniform

All parents/guardians and students are reminded that students return to school in Term 4, in summer uniform.

As there will be a number of girls who have had a growth spurt over the last two terms it is recommended that the length of uniform is checked before returning to school.
