Principal's Message

"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed no hope at all."

Dale Carnegie

As Term Three comes to a close I am constantly reminded of the wonderful contribution our students make to our College.  They are true ambassadors of Brigidine and the manner in which our students approach their learning, relationships with peers and staff, and the Brigidine community, is to be commended.

These past few weeks have been filled with many wonderful occasions to celebrate and come together as a community.

Our Father's Day Mass and Breakfast provided the College with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible relationship and importance of the father figures in our lives. I am very grateful for those fathers who could join us on this special occasion.

On the 56th International Day of Gratitude, Wednesday 21 September, the Year 12 Graduating cohort had much to celebrate. Beginning with a whole school assembly, Years 7 - 11 gathered together to say 'thank you and goodbye' to our Year 12 cohort. Following the assembly we welcomed over 600 guests, parents, family and friends, to celebrate in the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony and Mass. This Ceremony marked the formal graduation of each Year 12 student as she was individually acknowledged with her Graduation Certificate and walked the stage upon which our graduands received a yellow rose from each Year 7 student - a tradition at Brigidine College that dates back many decades. The final acknowledgement of Graduation was for each Year 12 student to stand and move her Graduation Tassel from the right to the left, a symbolic gesture of crossing over from high school to their next stage in life.

A very special part of the Ceremony is acknowledging the extraordinary contributions made by some of our Year 12 students. I congratulate and thank the following girls:

We have immense pride in our Year 12 girls. They have been marvellous exemplars for the other girls of the College, and they have truly walked with Strength and Gentleness. Their involvement in all aspects of this College, and the leadership they have openly shown to all girls, has been extraordinary. As they begin this collective journey toward the completion of their Higher School Certificate, our thoughts, prayers and community support remain with them.

Term Three witnessed the nomination and selection process of our 2023 Student Leadership Team.  It is with great honour I announce to the community the successful candidates who will lead our College community from Term Four 2022.

I am grateful to those parents who were able to attend our Parent Forums this past term. I particularly appreciated the conversations and thoughts to build community and enhance the experience for all in Brigidine. There was also constructive conversation around further parent involvement in both social and strategic planning. I welcome this.

As we move into Term Four I am delighted to inform you of the following staffing announcements.

Director of Pastoral Care: Kylie Bordignon-Hock (beginning January 2023)Year 8 Pastoral Care Coordinator: Nikki McWhirter (beginning Term Four 2022)

On Friday 28 October 2022, Brigidine College will be hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast from 8:00am - 9:30am in support of raising awareness and funds for The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). The NBCF is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. Further information regarding our fundraising page as well as your RSVP for our breakfast will be form coming in Week 1 Term Four.

I trust the term break with provide a much needed rest to all students and families. With our final term before us I know there will be much learning to be engaged with and many more activities to continue to build our community spirit.
