Netball
Last Saturday, the College under 18’s team played Monivae in netball at HILAC. College came away with a victory, winning by 4 goals in a very close game. The team played well together with both the attacking and defensive ends showing strength. The girls did well to hold the lead throughout the majority of the game and made a strong comeback after the scores were level going into the fourth quarter. They have done an amazing job to gel together, after only two games playing together, and will definitely be a force to be reckoned with going forward.
In the first and second quarters of their Round 2 game, the U15 College Magpies team came out playing strongly, especially in defence, with Sophie Spence working tightly with Lily Giles and Isla McClure (who kindly filled in for us). Isabella Malseed and Pepper Bowes worked the offensive ring and did a great job shooting against tall defenders. Matilda and Sophie Whitehead helped control the mid-court, bringing the ball get down to the shooters, as well as managing to defend and intercept the ball. The girls played a great game with no subs and the final score didn’t reflect how well they all played together against a taller and much more experienced team.
