Year 6 Camp Postponed

We all felt terrible this week for our Year 6 students who had yet another camp pulled out from underneath them this week due to the extreme weather conditions. And this time with less than 24 hours notice!

It is so hard to pull yourself back together after the disappointments but our students have put on a brave face and worked through it this week.

We are thrilled to announce that we have managed to secure an alternate date and will be proceeding with the Year 6 Camp with its full itinerary:

NEW CAMP DATES
Mon Nov 28 - Fri Dec 2

A huge thank you to Jono Trend and Sarah Darling for their work in making these alternate arrangements so quickly.

The Year 6 team will be in touch with parents soon to confirm the details and the minor changes that were required.

A High Bar to Clear

Congratulations to Isaac Ladd who has qualified for the Victorian State team to compete in the National Athletics Championships in Brisbane in November. Isaac will compete in the High Jump and his sister, former student Ruby Ladd, has qualified for Discus and Shot-put.

We look forward to following their adventures in Brisbane and wish the Ladds all the very best for their competition.

Oban Rd Parking: Changed Conditions

Just before the Term 3 holidays, School Council received notice of an impending change to the parking conditions in front of the school on Oban Rd. You may have noticed that the signs have been changed over the holidays from a '2 minute drop off' sign to a 'No parking' sign.

School Council is submitting a request for better communication and consultation with regards to traffic management around the school and for more clarification about what this change means for our families.

While we wait for this clarification, please be aware that the need for change was identified by Maroondah Council because of dangerous habits in the drop-off zone, especially in the mornings.

In particular, double-parking in the traffic lane is extremely dangerous. The risk of creating a head-on collision is high, along with the insane risk of children running through cars to get to a parked car in the middle of the road.

Whatever the potential fines or warnings are from the council, no amount of time saved is worth risking a child being hit by a moving car. Please observe the road and parking rules at all times for the safety of your family and others.

Prep Transition

We are so excited to start meeting and getting to know our newest students at RNPS. Our Prep teachers held an information night for families last week that was very well attended and our first Transition session is being held in just 2 weeks. I'm sure the children are all very excited - I know the teachers certainly are!

Hayfever season

Just a reminder that with Spring comes hayfever. If you tend to treat your child's hayfever symptoms with medicine and would like them to be able to take some when required at school, visit Nat and Martha at the front desk to arrange a 'Medical Administration Authorisation Form' and to leave your child's medicine in the first aid room.
