Principal's Page

Dear Families,

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) has recently released its strategic plan, MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World. MACS 2030 is a strategy that will assist all Catholic schools to come together in common purpose and vision to realise the full benefits of a Catholic education for our young people and their families into the future.

The vision is: 'Every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world.' Our vision at St Joseph's is worded differently but has the same meaning: 'As a vibrant Catholic learning community, we will develop engaged, independent and successful learners who will contribute to the world for the good of all.'

Below is a beautiful video, of students from many different schools, sharing their thoughts on where they will be and what the world will be like in 2030. Ask your children for their thoughts and be inspired like I was.

More information on the MACS 2030 strategy can be found at https://macs2030.com

Working Bee

Thank you to the staff and following families who attended the working bee earlier in the term: Burton-Royce, Cromwell, Hill, Bell, McGrath, Monaghan, Nash and Heinnen. Quite a few jobs were crossed off our list and outside is looking so much better for the work.

2023

We are busily planning for 2023. If you know that your child will not be attending St Joseph's next year, could you please let me know.

Tonight we will be hosting the 2023 Prep Information Parent Evening. Next year's prep students will begin their transition program next Wednesday morning. It is such an exciting time of year for most but it is natural to have some nerves because of change. Students in Year 1 to 5 will also participate in a transition program which will run over four sessions with the themes of: Welcome, Respect, Inclusiveness and Meeting next Year's Teachers.

Oak's Day Lunch

Our wonderful P&F team have been working extremely hard preparing for this event. It is our school's main fundraiser for the year and looks like it will be a wonderful social event. Please book your tickets if you haven't already as it is only two weeks away tomorrow. Money raised this year will go towards nets for the top oval, digital technology resources such as spheros, drones, robotics and  improving outdoor spaces. More information about the event and purchasing tickets are on the Parents and Friends page.

Online safety

We are hearing of more examples of students behaving inappropriately online. A letter will be sent home to all parents of students this evening informing you of our concerns and requesting parental assistance in keeping children safe online.

School Fees

Last week, fee statements were emailed to families with outstanding 2022 fees. Please ensure all fees are up to date before the end of term.

School Closure Days

There will be no school on Monday 31st October or Tuesday 1st November which is Melbourne Cup Day. Enjoy the long weekend.

Enjoy your week,

Monica
