Thank you Parents and Staff

Camp Arrabri

Camp Arrabri ....I hear you say ...a little poem to tell you the 3/4 tale

Bags and pillows jackets and coats, onto the bus for our adventure to start. Straight to the lodge our cabins are done , now we are off to have some fun.

A bit of rain caused no pain, climbing activities are still all the same!

The big swing certainly made us grin.

Archery has been a hit with mini golf keeping us fit.

A bit of damper to warm our bones , the games room where we play some pool.

Back for dinner a superb array, looking forward to bush dancing and a night hike so cool. Hooray!

An early start this morning after a breakfast feast. The bush dancing and night walk ended with a marshmallow cook up and a campfire, wow what a treat.

Oh Yes , we know it's wet, but a bit of rain hasn't stopped us yet.

Remember the times when you were young, when jumping in puddles was so much fun.

Movie time for our last night, the reptile show was out of sight!!

Homeward bound, so many socks were found.

Such a great crew, we at Great Ryrie thank you.

Thank you to the parents and staff who made the 3/4 camp such a wonderful experience.

It is such a huge commitment to leave your own families to enable our students to attend Camp Arrabri.

Parent Payments

Parent Payments 2022 & 2023

In our quest to provide exceptional student learning opportunities, Great Ryrie Primary School Council has approved the school’s parent contributions for 2023, consistent with associated school-level and Department of Education and Training policies. These policies may be viewed on our website - www.greatryrieps.vic.edu.au. There are a small percentage of families that have not made payments in 2022. Those families are invited to review their Compass profile.

Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, the ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students. We want to thank you for all your support, whether that’s through making voluntary contributions, fundraising or volunteering your time. This has made a huge difference to our school and the programs we can offer.

Collectively your contributions allow us to provide opportunities and support above and beyond the traditional educational experience. These include:

  • The extensive resourcing of individual and classroom equipment, materials, digital subscriptions, and consumables that enrich learning in English, Mathematics, Science, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Indonesian, Physical Education, Sport and Digital Technologies.
  • The introduction in 2023 of a dedicated Specialist Science program for every child every week.
  • The ongoing maintenance and beautification of our school grounds and facilities.
  • The provision of individual student book packs, general classroom stationery and digital device access.
  • Additional Learning Enhancement Program targeting Intervention and High Ability Groups.
  •  Physical Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, LOTE and the addition of a Science and Technology  Program

Great Ryrie Primary School makes every effort to ensure parent payments are affordable to all parents. We understand that some families may experience financial difficulty. We have a range of support options, including second hand uniform sales, Camps, Sports, and Excursions Fund (CSEF), access to States Schools’ Relief and access to the Great Ryrie Primary Schools Family Support Fund. For a confidential discussion about accessing these services, or if you would like to discuss alternative payment arrangements, contact Hollie Serollo, Business Manager Ph: 03 9870 6098 Email: hollie.serollo@education.vic.gov.au.

Staffing and Classes 2023

Placement of staff and students into classes for 2023

We are in the process of finalising our school structure and staff for 2023. Our staff will begin the task of allocating students to classes for 2023 very shortly.

As with our teaching teams, class groups are developed after careful consideration, balancing a range of issues and needs. These include factors such as academic ability, behavioural challenges, friendships, and previous teachers.

A valuable part of the process will be giving students an opportunity to list friends they would like to be with for the following year. They will be placed with at least one friend on that list.

I encourage families to trust our school’s judgement with grade placements. It is our current class teachers, as professionals with all available information, that are in the best position to place students in classes. Furthermore, I am sure that you would understand that it is not always possible to accommodate all requests and that an important part of any student’s journey through their schooling is the development of vital life skills. This includes meeting, getting to know, and working with different personalities.

Have a great weekend with family and friends
