Principal News
Dear Sacred Heart School Community,
At the time of writing this newsletter, I am aware of alerts about the forecast deluge of rain and its implications on the wellbeing of communities that will be affected. We are aware that different parts of our country are saturated and some have already borne the brunt of severe flooding episodes this year. We pray that our community stays safe and that we continue to do our own part to preserve our environment which appears to be crying for help by adults making more caring and thoughtful environmental decisions.
Sacred Heart Primary School Family Disco
The School Dinner Dance which we are now calling the Sacred Heart Family Disco is fast approaching. The Parents and Friend's group have been working hard in preparation for the event. This past week they have been wrapping the "Silent Auction" hampers and gifts so that they can be put on display in the school foyer for the two weeks prior to our event. Further information about the silent auction items and how to bid will be given next week.
Our Monday dance group with Angela are finalising their performance to present on the night.
Our mothers Prem and Cettina have organised the ticketing process for the event and I would like to express my gratitude for all their work. Please be aware that the only way to book tickets is by using the link below. Tickets cannot be purchased via the office. If you are having difficulty navigating the "Humanitix" link, do not hesitate to contact me and I will ensure either Prem or Cettina will make time to help you with the booking of tickets process.
To book tickets you need to:
Go to
https://events.humanitix.com/family-disco-2022-sacred-heart-school-preston
Then complete the details required, which are your name, number of tickets required, payment method.
There will be 10 people per table. After you have booked your tickets, please fill in the seating arrangement form that will be put up in the reception area next Monday so you can be allocated a table. Please also indicate on this form who you would like to sit with. If you do not specify who you would like to sit with, this will be done for you by the Parents and Friend's Committee.

Congratulations to Tazlyn, Shamus, Aleisha (nominated twice), Connor and Brian on being awarded Good Samaritan certificates at today's assembly for their selfless ways.
Year Prep to Year Four Swimming Program
It has been a busy week with our students from Year Prep to Year Four enjoying the swimming program. A big thank you to all the mums and dads who have very kindly joined our younger students at the pool each day, and helped our teachers get our younger students dressed after their lesson ready for the bus journey back to school (so far we have had very few if any students loose any items of clothing!) On behalf of the staff, can I say how much we really appreciate your help.
Year Three Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be received by our Year Three students on Thursday 17th November at 6.00pm. More details will follow in the following weeks.
Art Show
The staff have been busy planning the logistics for next Wednesday's Art Show. A reminder that this event commences at 6.00pm in the multi purpose room. After our welcome ceremony, parents, guardians, grandparents, etc. will be invited to tour the bottom level of our school, and view our student's artwork until 7.30pm.

Year Prep 2023 Transition
Our Year Prep students for 2023 had their third transition session today and again showed they are all going to be great young people and students for our school. Their fourth and final session will be in November.
School Closure Days
Just a reminder to all parents and as mentioned in last week's newsletter, we have two school closure days this term for staff professional development. The first is Monday 31st October (ie before Melbourne Cup public holiday) and the second is Friday 2nd December. Youth Leadership Victoria will provide a service on both these days.
Congratulations Alex
Congratulations to our former staff member Alex who became a very proud father nearly two weeks ago with the birth of his son Griffin. Both mum and Griffin are doing well and as you can see from the photo, Alex has taken to fatherhood with aplomb.
Joke Corner (From the Parish Bulletin)
A 3-month pregnant woman falls into a deep coma. 6 months later she awakes and asks the doctor about her baby. Doctor: Don't worry. You had twins, a boy and a girl and your brother named them for you. Woman: Oh no, not my brother! He's an idiot! What did he name them? Doctor: Denise Woman: That's not too bad. What about the boy? Doctor: Denephew.
Yours Sincerely
