Ms Julia Wilken - Acting Head of Visual Art

Monday night marked a huge milestone for our Year 12s, with the 2022 Graduating Arts Evening being held in the Draney Theatre. The night saw all the work the Year 12s have produced, hung in the foyer for guests, staff, fellow students, and parents to view. Our Senior students showed their dedication, hard work and creative innovation whilst it also provided an opportunity for students to reflect on their time at Marist College. The night was a huge success with the following students receiving prizes:

Congratulations to all Senior Visual Art Students especially to our award recipients. Thank you to Tamara Sheedy for all her hard work in preparing the 2022 Graduates Arts Evening.

Back in the classroom, Year 11 Visual Art students had the opportunity to study Jacqui Scotcher’s art practice by visually analysing and interpreting her work. Students viewed the organic marks, changes in texture and spontaneous paths within her work, which links to their IA1 preparation. The class spent two lessons down at Enoggera Creek, painting, sketching, and creating works inspired by Scotcher’s approach. Overall, the class thoroughly enjoyed the experience with a high level of work being produced.
