Gary the G.O.A.T.

Last week, Riley House was introduced to Gary the Goat, and since we found him to be the G.O.A.T, the Senior School Emotional Intelligence Team (SSEI) thought the benefits and learnings from Gary were too good not to share.

The backstory is that Mrs Grech’s niece is a Vet Nurse in Wodonga and as such, has the opportunity to nurse some interesting animals.  Enter Gary!

Gary has been a secret weapon in coping with the new restrictions placed upon Victoria because seriously, who doesn’t love a baby goat?

Gary is a mood shifter.  Videos of Gary living his absolute best life has everyone smiling.

He can also teach us a lot.

In the following video, we have Gary the G.O.A.T and Buddy, the dog.

We can learn two things from this one video.

  1. We may need to be more resilient, like Gary.  Even though Gary begs Buddy to come and play. When he doesn’t get his way he trots off to find adventure elsewhere or
  2. We need to be more patient like Buddy.  Even though we have an annoying sibling, parent or tech frustrations bouncing on us, remaining calm and remembering our best self will be the best way to move forward.

So which emotion do you need to practice more this week?  Resilience? Patience?  Or maybe you need to take some self-care time and spend some time outside playing with animals or admiring some of the trees and flowers that are starting to bud?

Whatever you do, be kind to yourself and remember to reach out to your friends or House Tutors if you need any help.

Have a great week.
