Around Grade 5/6

Learning Collaboratively and Celebrating Success

Podcast

Here is the latest podcast from the talented Pod Squad in Year 5/6. All students are invited to join the squad, or offer suggestions. We have a special section called 'Secrets of Warrandyte' where you can share favourite spots to walk / rest / play. Send your 'secrets' to Anne Hibbert if you are willing to share them.

Picture Story Books - Extra Copies Available

The picture story books should now be complete. The students were asked to scan and send them to their teachers yesterday (Thursday). If your child still needs help, please let us know.

We are so excited about getting them professionally published using Snapfish. Each child will receive one copy for free.

Additional copies will cost $10. If you would like to order extra copies, please transfer the money to the school by the end of term (Friday 18th September).

Kids HelpLine

On Tuesday, half the year level participated in a session with the Kids HelpLine. The focus was on 'Balancing Tech Time'. The three key strategies were to increase 'green time' (being outdoors), increase 'screen breaks' and to prioritise time in the day. The remaining students (5/6B and 5/6S) have their session on Monday at 1.30pm.

If your child is in 5/6A or 5/6H and missed their session, please encourage them to join the Monday session.

The Kids HelpLine is a wonderful, free service. They have experienced a significant increase in calls during this pandemic. We encourage all the children to use this service a if needed.

Remote Learning

There has been such wonderful work being produced. Last week, students worked in small groups to analyse and recite poetry. This week, they have been planning a fully costed trip to Melbourne (when restrictions lift!). For Maths, they have been exploring fractions and their equivalents.

We are so proud of the way the students have engaged with the program. It is wonderful to see their faces on our daily 10am Meet.

Keep up the great work everyone!
