Catering for growth

We have called for tenders from building companies to addresses a need to cater for large student numbers coming through on a consistent basis.

The pressure of growth is a good problem to have, but it requires ongoing upgrades to facilities and we have a Master Plan to guide development, which we review regularly.

The current project is part of our Capital Works Program for 2020/21 and is primarily aimed at providing additional classrooms to cope with what has become an ongoing need for six classrooms or home rooms for year 7 and the need for additional rooms as these large groups progress through the College.

We have plans to extend the Mercy Wing, our year 7 area, out towards Hart Street to include an additional general purpose classroom and we will relocate our Learning Enrichment and Wellbeing teams into this building.

The extension will also include a year-level co-ordinator office, meeting room, kitchenette, toilets and storeroom.

That then frees up space to refurbish Tuck Wing, which currently houses our Year 9 and 10 groups, to provide additional classrooms as well without increasing that building’s footprint.

We hope to commence the project in term 4 and all going well we would hope to see it completed in about 6 months.
