CYBER SAFETY ADVICE

We have changed how we ‘go’ to school by studying remotely and expanding our use of digital technology to communicate with our teachers and classmates. We have also spent more time online so we could stay connected with friends and relatives. With others stuck at home with us doing the same thing, there has often been the added pressure of having to help family members understand how to use new technologies.  Spending more time online has also increased the chance of being exposed to some negative behaviours and inappropriate or upsetting content, that might have made us feel uncomfortable. The eSafety Commissioner has put together some advice to make sure we look after our children’s online safety and well-being — to help navigate the uncharted territory we are in. Also, Many of our students like to socialise through online chats and gaming platforms whilst we are all in lockdown.

Consequently, we all need to be aware of the potential for increased issues relating to cyber-safety.

A reminder to parents to please supervise your children whilst they are online. Please monitor their interactions and regularly remind them of appropriate online behaviours and how to stay safe whilst online.

Attached is an article from Bully Stoppers which can help parents to understand and deal with cyber bullying.
