Tournament of Minds

We are very proud of our three teams who have worked so hard this term to develop, script, act, record and edit a solution to quite a broad challenge. The challenge involved finding an extraordinary item, which holds the key to the future, in an unexpected place by an out of the ordinary group. Due to COVID-19 the competition required the performances to be filmed and submitted online and this, unfortunately, meant that there was no Spontaneous Challenge this year. The entries are being judged this weekend.

The teams are:

Write a Book in a Day

Students with a love of creative writing, a passion for illustrating and/or a desire to help other teenagers are invited to join us at the Dr Ian Grant Library on Sunday 20th September to write and illustrate a book in just 12 hours. Write a Book in a Day is a competition for teams of students to write a story, within surprise parameters, to be given to teenagers with cancer who are in hospital.

We have participated in this competition for a few years and every year the students involved have experienced, over the 12 hour period, creative highs and lows, lots of laughs, making new friends and the satisfaction of having written and illustrated an original book that will brighten the day of a fellow teenager who is sick in hospital.

There are still spaces available for students who would like to participate in this unique event. The permission note can be downloaded from the College website.

Chess

The Interhouse Chess Competition is continuing every Tuesday lunch and only has two more rounds until the finals. It has been wonderful to watch the students playing across year groups and developing their strategies over the weeks.

The College Chess Team is competing against Murrumbidgee Regional High School (Griffith) this Friday in the next round of the NSW Country Schools Chess Competition. The team comprises Hudson Crofts, Brandon Collins, Teddy Leah and Owen Ranby.

We wish them the best of luck as they compete online.
