House Captains

Attention Parents/Guardians and students of Year 12

With the HSC examinations shortly upon us, and the current care being taken due to the COVID 19 pandemic,  NESA have instigated some very strict rules to ensure the safety of all students, presiding officers and examination supervisors.

Please take the time to read and ensure students adhere to the following:

  • Students will need to arrive 20 minutes before the examination so supervisors can temperature test students, confirm they have not been asked to self isolate by NSW Health, and do not have any flu- like symptoms and sanitize their hands.
  • Students should not attend the examination if they have flu-like symptoms ( fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell), are awaiting a COVID test result, have been directed to self isolate by NSW Health or have tested positive to COVID 19.
  • If students have a known illness that has similar symptoms to the flu e.g. hay fever, they require a  medical certificate from their doctor which should be  provided to the school. They are also encouraged to ensure they are up to date with their medication to minimise their symptoms.
  • Students displaying flu-like symptoms may be asked to leave the examination and asked to be tested for COVID 19. They will only be able to return to the examination centre once a negative test result has been received.

If you have any concerns, please contact Ms Helen Foster by phoning the college 69331811 (ext 163), or by e-mailing  helen.foster@trac.nsw.edu.au

Parking at the front of the College

Please be aware that Farrer Road in front of the College is now a no parking zone. Some parents have been choosing to pick up students or park on Farrer Road. It is now marked with a solid yellow line. Disobeying this “No Stopping restriction” can result in a fine of $257, or a fine of $330 and two demerit points in a school zone. Please use the designated Parent Pickup Area.

Trevor Howard | Head of Campus

Parent Pickup Area

The Parent Pick up area is at the front of the school in front of the Music and Drama building. This can be very busy at the beginning and end of the day. If this is a concern, please consider either coming earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the congestion.

The parking area near the uniform shop is not a designated pickup or drop off area for students. This area is now closed for general parking due to excavation works commencing this week. For the safety of all, it would be appreciated if this practice ceased.

Limited parking for the Uniform Shop is still available.

Trevor Howard | Head of Campus

Onsite Parking Changes

The construction of the new Junior School is about to commence which will cause further congestion and parking issues. Your patience during this time would be appreciated and every effort will be made to communicate all access changes to the school community.

Year 9 Outdoor Education

Students in Year Nine Outdoor Education got to practice their kayaking skills on the school

oval last week. Since travelling to the river or the pool is a little difficult at the moment, we

had to improvise and practice our skills on land. Students learnt how to effectively and safely

paddle a kayak. They focused on forward and reverse strokes as well as steering the kayak

and the correct posture. This is in preparation for the practice trip which will be held on

Friday, September 18th at Wantabadgery.

Year 9 and 10 Outdoor Education

In preparation for their practice and qualifying DoE trips, students in Year Nine and Ten have

been collecting and collating details on the rubbish waste around the College as practice for their involvement in the ‘Clean Up SUPtember Paddle’ happening later this month. This environmental initiative looks at the impact of single use plastics and their effect on the River systems throughout NSW. Our students will be looking specifically at the Murrumbidgee River and will be responsible for collecting single use plastic items which have been discarded and end up on the river. At the end of the trip, students will weigh the amount of rubbish collected and pass the information on to the local government. The students will

need to plan and implement ways to collect the rubbish while they paddle and transport it

down the river with them.
