Sport Captains 2022

Yesterday we saw a large number of candidates deliver their sports captain speeches to their respective colour houses. The speeches were well thought out and delivered with pride and passion. A massive thank you to all students who went for these positions.

Gymnastics

Amity Wall participated in the Tamworth Gymnastics Club Championships on Saturday 27th November in Level 5. Amity came 6th overall competing in beam, bars, vault and floor. Congratulations Amity.

Kindergarten Gymnastics

Steve and Jan McGinnity from the Tamworth Gymnastics Centre have kindly offered to make up the lost gymnastic sessions that occurred during COVID lockdown. To ensure that Kindergarten does not miss out, we have secured Tuesday afternoon for Kindergarten to participate in this sessions. To help make sure your child is comfortable whilst participating in gymnastics, we require your child to come dressed in their sports uniform on Tuesdays instead of Wednesdays on the 7th of December

First Lap

The First Lap voucher program provides $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of children aged 3-6 years who are not enrolled in school to contribute towards the cost of swimming lessons. The program has been expanded for the 2021/22 financial year to include children in kindergarten in 2021 and children starting kindergarten in 2022, who missed out on vital water safety education during their pre-school years due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Swimming is an important part of life for many Australian residents. Whether safely enjoying a splash at the local pool, heading to the beach or going for a dip in a river, it is important that all people, especially children, have skills and confidence in and around the water. 

Water safety education is key to ensuring children learn vital safety and survival skills from a young age – a skill they will keep with them for life.  

The vouchers may be used with an approved First Lap provider and are available through the Service NSW website.

By making swimming and water safety education more accessible for families, the First Lap program will help keep NSW children healthy, happy, and safe in and around the water.

School Representative Shirts

There are a number of school representative shirts that have not been returned. Please have a look in cupboards and sport bags and return these ASAP. These shirts are used for all St Edward’s teams when they are representing the school and need to be washed and brought back.

Armidale Diocesan Primary Sports Council

The Armidale Diocesan Primary Sports Council is a body representative of the Catholic Education Office, Principals and Sports Coordinators from all Diocesan Primary Schools. The ADPSC offers a pathway for Armidale Diocesan students in most sports.
