Below are some student highlights from the tour.

"ATAR camp was great opportunity to learn a bit about uni life as well as helping us learn what we need to accomplish to reach university. A highlight of the trip was visiting InterGrain, where we saw firsthand where Australian varieties are grown and bred. Some interesting things we learnt at InterGrain were, it takes around 10 years to breed new varieties and InterGrain has their own bakery where they bake bread and make noodles to test their varieties for taste and texture".

"ATAR camp was good. I believe that going around to different universities, even ones we didn't like was a good idea so we could appreciate the one we liked the most. Going to Siena's for dinner was good because it was nice to go somewhere decent".

"Attending ATAR camp was an amazing opportunity which opened my eyes to life beyond Cundy Ag.

The university tours allowed us a glimpse of what life could look like studying agriculture in the future. Personally, Murdoch University was my favourite uni, though I may be a bit biased because this is where I hope to attend after Year 12. The vibe of Murdoch Uni was one of kind, the facilities are amazing, and their ‘hands on’ approach to learning is appealing.

Despite all the dead pigs, blood and guts, Linley Valley Pork was by far the best industry tour. This tour allowed us to see the production of pork from farm to plate and all the processes and hard work that goes into producing top quality pork products.

As strange as it may sound, my favourite part of ATAR camp would be looking at all the different animal organs, bones and systems in the animal museum at Murdoch Uni. Miss Sharpe and I had a great time identifying what each body part was, and the animals in which they belonged to. We got to see a foal which was naturally aborted at a few weeks into the pregnancy, the internal structure of a horse’s head through slices, and naturally aborted conjoined twin kittens (all of which were ethically sourced).

Thank you to Miss Sharpe, Miss Jury and Miss Smith for organising this event and supervising us on this incredible excursion! We all really appreciate this opportunity you gave us :)"

"The thing that I enjoyed most was Linley Valley Pork and I was fascinated by how we got to see the workers and how many different rooms there were.   My favourite university was Murdoch, and I most enjoyed the farms at Murdoch and the vet museum".

"Year 11 ATAR camp was an experience which taught me more about the universities which I was not quite aware of discovering the agricultural parts in depth. We went into small, short activities which gave us a small taste of what uni is like. It was a great experience and gave me a goal that I would like to reach for and gave me a great and better understanding of what I would like to do after school and what's needed to get there".
