Languages Diversity Day 2023

On Monday 5 June, the French and Japanese students participated in activities to celebrate Languages Diversity Day. The French students started the day off by viewing the Melbourne French Theatre Company’s rendition of the classic French children’s story “Le Petit Nicolas”. The dual presentation of the scenes in English and French allowed all students to fully engage, but more importantly, enjoy the experience.

Afterwards, VCE and Year 10 French students were able to collect their complementary crêpe while the Year 9’s continued with the theme of French entertainment and viewed the film “Le Petit Nicolas en vacances”. After recess, the VCE French students ran multiple activities related to French culture. The Year 10 students brought out their inner painters with the drawing class, while the Year 9s chose to participate in either karaoke and dance, pétanque, games or the making of a French rosette. Seeing everyone having fun and engaging with their respective activity was great.

The amazing Languages Diversity Day assembly, put together by the extremely hardworking Cultural Liaison Leaders, Cassandra Arden De Leon and Rakeah Shabani, was wonderful. From the Bollywood Dance Club to the K-Dance Club to the VCE Japanese students, the various performances were electrifying. Esther Saravananthan sang “La Dernière Danse” by Indila beautifully with, you could say, une voix d’ange. (the voice of an angel).

Overall, the whole day was a success and on behalf of the French students, we would like to thank the Cultural Liaison Leaders, Madame Sly and all the other Language teachers for their efforts in planning and producing such an unforgettable day.
