Meet the Team

Alysha Murton

From a very young age, I always wanted to be a teacher. As a child I can remember setting up my bedroom as a classroom, always doing a roll call for my teddies and practising handwriting with my ‘students’ on my easel. My Passion for teaching only continued to grow.

School has always been such a positive place for me, and I was determined to make it a positive place for children in the future, which is why I continued with my dream of becoming a teacher when I finished high school. In 2013, I graduated from Monash University and during that year I was able to enjoy one of my fondest times in my teaching career, teaching a Prep class on the island of Rarotonga, in the beautiful Cook Islands. This experience allowed me to see teaching from a completely different lens, and I am so grateful for the learning opportunity I received and for the wonderful people I met along the way. Upon returning from the Cook Islands, I was fortunate to obtain a teaching position here at Beaumaris Primary in a Year 2 class in 2014. It is so hard to believe that my first cohort of Year 2 students are now in Year 11 and often come back to BPS to visit and reminisce on their experiences of primary school. I feel very blessed to have built so many wonderful relationships with the students and their families during my time at BPS.  I feel privileged to have chosen a career where I will be a ‘lifelong learner.’ Everyday I come to school, I learn from the wonderful students at BPS and from my amazing colleagues. A few highlights during my time at BPS have been celebrating Beaumaris Primary School’s 100th  Birthday, being a part of many Easter Bonnet Parades, attending school camps, the wonderful Year 6 productions and of course all the amazing teaching and learning moments that have occurred over the years.Throughout my time at Beaumaris, I have had a few life changing events which I have enjoyed sharing with the beautiful Beaumaris Community. In 2018 I welcomed my first daughter Ivy, who is now 5 and very eager to head to school next year. I often think she is destined to be a teacher; she always asks me about my day and wants to know all the things I taught in the day, as well as the names of the students who are in my class. In the year 2020, I was one of the lucky couples who were able to get married and consequently changed my name from Miss Morecroft to Mrs Murton. In the year 2021, I welcomed my daughter Frankie who will be turning 2 in July. During my spare time, I love spending time with my family, heading to local parks and the beach on the warmer days and I also LOVE shopping! As I have taught across many year levels the past few years, I know many of the students and families in our community, but please if I am yet to meet you, or even if you do know me, please make sure you come and find me on yard duty as I’d love to chat and find out all the interesting things happening in your lives. Keep smiling and be you always. 😊
