Foundation (Prep)

Literacy

This term, students have been introduced to vowels - a, e, i, o and u. They have then practised using these sounds in their spelling. We concentrated on 'o' this week and brainstormed all the words we could think of that begin with the letter 'o'. The children recorded some of these words in their Alphabet Books.

The new digraph (two letters that make one sound) that we have learnt this week is:

'I saw a horse' - or, or, or.

We also talked about Opposites. We listened to a great song about opposites and then recorded some of our favourites in our Work Books.

Numeracy

In Maths, the students were introduced to Subtraction.  In Prep we refer to this new concept as 'take away' but the students have been introduced to terms like subtract and minus as well. We have practised counting backwards from various starting points and have had a go at solving some simple subtraction problems.

It has been a fun way to end the term this week with our school disco, a buddy activity and the MND 'Big Freeze' fundraiser event.

I hope everyone has a wonderful break and enjoys a well-earned rest.
