Principal's Report

Daniel Webber

As we reach the end of Term Two, I have been reflecting on the incredible nine weeks I have experienced since I joined the ACPS community at the start of the Term. The warmth shown to me by the community has left me feeling a level of connection that I did not think was possible in one Term. I love my new home at ACPS and feel so proud to be your Principal and so grateful to have your support. For our students, this Term has provided an abundance of positivity and fantastic programs. Inside the classroom, our dedicated teachers have created engaging lessons that sparked curiosity and continued to foster a love for learning. Our students have applied themselves with distinction and continued to shine in their learning growth. Outside the classroom, our students were given a plethora of opportunities to thrive through various extracurricular activities and events.

This is particularly evident in the past week's activities where we celebrated the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship at the Girls Football Carnival, where our talented Grade 5 & 6 Girls football team showcased their skills to win 3 out of their 4 games. The way our more experienced footballers led by example and how our newer AFL stars threw themselves wholeheartedly into each game was utterly impressive.

The School Disco on Tuesday night was a resounding success, creating an unforgettable night for our students. The dance floor was filled with infectious energy as students showed off their best moves and danced to their favourite tunes. The event was well supported by our parent volunteers and a fantastic DJ who kept the party going. It was so nice to witness the pure joy that radiated throughout the disco, making it a memorable night for all who attended.

The Big Freeze fundraiser, held at school on Thursday afternoon was a huge success thanks to the incredible efforts of our Junior School Council, Miss Black, and Mrs. Bailey. I would also like to extend a special thank you to Daniel Kirby, a parent volunteer who went above and beyond to support the fundraiser. The afternoon provided me the pleasure of dunking quite a number of our willing JSC and Grade 5/6 students with ice cold buckets of water as a tradeoff for the generous donations to MND from our students. I would like to personally thank all of our parents that appeared only too happy to provide their children with the required funds to not only reach but significantly exceed our $500 Dunk Mr Webber target. You are truly too kind!

Thank you to our exceptional students, dedicated staff, and supportive parents for making it a truly wonderful Term. We wish everyone a restful and safe break.

See you all in the next term!

Farwell Ross & Thank you

We are really sad to be saying goodbye to Ross, the Crossing Man, on Harris Gully Road. He has been seeing ACPS children safely across this busy road for the last 11 years, and our families have had the privilege of seeing him every day of their schooling at ACPS. Not only does he make sure our kids get to school without incident, he also has a friendly chat with everyone and brightens our day. Even throughout COVID when there were very few children using the crossing, Ross was always there rain, hail or shine chatting about the weather, the virus, coping with all the challenges we faced and continuing to make sure our kids could cross safely on this busy road.

We are going to miss you Ross, and your dog Billy, and hope you enjoy your retirement and we continue to see your friendly face around Warrandyte for many years to come!
