Supporting Autistic and ADHD Students

Over the last week, our Educators have been engaging in professional learning titled, 'Supporting Autistic and ADHDer Students.' This was delivered in a webinar presented by Sandhya Menon from Onwards and Upwards Psychology. Sandhya is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist who works with families and schools to help them understand and respect how the neurodivergent brain works.

We explored ways to set the classroom up for neurodivergent learners and ensure accommodations are available for all learners. Accommodations may include access to breaks, quiet spaces, sensory tools, visual schedules to help students regulate.

We value neurodiversity in our school community and we recognise the value that comes from having brains that are different!

Digital Safety

The Australian Government's eSafety Commissioner website is a comprehensive resource designed to to help safeguard all Australians from online harms and to promote safer, more positive online experiences.

At Sacred Heart we understand that children are living in a digital world, and alongside our families we have a responsibility to educate our students to be safe on these digital platforms.

The students continue to participate in digital safety and wellbeing lessons every term through our partnership with the organisation Inform & Empower, and we encourage all families to continue the conversations going at home regarding appropriate and safe use in the digital space. Please refer to the '5 tips to keep your family safe online'  for some helpful reminders.

You may also like to visit the eSafety Commissioner website, they are always releasing new resources and information. This page on Good Habits Start Young is a helpful read about developing your child's digital intelligence.
