Stirling Cottage Excursion
The Year 10 and 11 classes were treated to some time to explore Stirling Cottage at the Keith Leece Tourist Precinct.
Students learned about Governor Stirling, the Harvey River irrigation scheme, dams in the area, the setting up of diversion channels during the great depression, some Noongar language and the history of May Gibbs and her stories as an illustrator and writer.
The gardens were explored with students learning along the way including that the world's third favourite flavour was orange, after chocolate and vanilla.
Year 10 Students made rockets, experimenting with designs to maximise distance flown. The maximum distance achieved was 46m.
