Music

Hola leyendas,
This term we're making excellent progress in playing rhythms and different instruments.
Prep-1s have been working on rearranging and creating rhythms. They have been learning about crotchets and quavers which are two of the most common symbols used to represent rhythm in music. A crotchet is a note that lasts for one beat, while a quaver lasts for half a beat. You can practice them at home as well

The 2-3s are learning basic music production skills and creating their own music using digital audio workstations (DAWs) and other software tools. Cameron Stark (Aviva's dad) has suggested the use of the program Bandlab, which has been a great way to introduce music production to the younger years. They are learning the basics of music production and are not only discovering a new way to express themselves but also preparing themselves for a future in the music industry or any creative field that involves technology. They have been learning how to add instruments (or voices), cut music, move music in time and using a MIDI creater or onscreen keyboard to input notes into their compositions. The videos and work are now up on seesaw for those who would like to practice it at home.

The 4-6s are learning "Riptide" on the ukulele using just four simple chords: Am, G, C and F. Using chord charts, in class instruction and videos, the students are picking up the song's catchy melody and mastering the chord changes with ease. As they strum the ukulele strings and sing along to the lyrics. On completion students' are looking at the chords to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and the TAB to Addam's Family and The Simpsons Theme songs. The videos and work are now up on seesaw for those who would like to practice it at home.
