Wellbeing Hub

Kate Couchman

What a busy term we have had in the Wellbeing Hub and in introducing school Wellbeing initiatives.

Wellbeing Hub

We have had a large number of students engaging in the Wellbeing Hub with Belinda, Matthew and I.  Some of these are individual appointments that are a one-off to discuss worries or concerns, whilst some students have ongoing, regular appointments at the Hub. There is a really positive atmosphere down at the Hub, with new office spaces and furniture and new games and resources for students to utilise.

Headspace in Schools Program

We have had great engagement with Courtney from Headspace in Warrnambool on Mondays at school. If students are interested in a referral to see Courtney, please contact the Wellbeing Hub: wellbeinghub@monivae.vic.edu.au

This is a short-term mental health intervention service and reports from students who see Courtney have been great, they are really enjoying their sessions with her.

Live4Life Crew

Our new Live4Life Induction Crew had their induction day this week at South West TAFE, our students have developed their goals for the year and are working on a Launch Day with other students from the region.  Well done to these students, especially our two Year 9 students; Dakota Kollar and Stella Seitz for showing great leadership in the youth mental health space.

Standing Tall in Hamilton: School Based Mentoring

We have two very enthusiastic Standing Tall mentees who have been meeting at lunchtime on Wednesdays. They have been playing games such as Bingo, Uno and Jenga and getting to know their mentors more. We have been lucky to have been given a large box of games from Standing Tall so we are enjoying exploring the different activities in the tub. Any students who would like to join Standing Tall, please see the link below to the website for more information.

Lunch Activities

Our Year 7 students have been surveyed to see what activities they would like to see happening in Term 2. Keep posted for information about a dodgeball competition and a Just Dance session in the mindfulness room next term. These two activities attracted the highest number of votes.  Our “Friday Bingo” sessions have also been popular in the Library so feel free to join in Term 2.

If you should require mental health support over the break, please find below the Mental Health Services and Support list of contacts.

Have a safe, relaxing and enjoying Easter holiday break with family and friends.
