Yard Duty

Yard duty will be shared equitably across teaching staff (pro-rata for part time staff) and is part of agreed “teacher duties”. Yard duty before and after school will occur with staff consultation. Efforts will be made to not allocate a teacher yard duty directly before or after class. A yard duty map is below and on the staffroom noticeboard and is also provided in this booklet. All staff should wear a high visibility vest whilst on yard duty.

It is strongly encouraged that staff when on yard duty carry a mobile phone with them to call for assistance, to record information of issues (remember that taking photos of persons without their permission if they are not committing a crime, may be considered inflammatory so caution is always recommended). Photographs/voice recording/filming of number plates/cars, persons committing offences can all be useful when reporting an issue.
Wet Day Arrangements
- An announcement will be made to confirm when it is classified as a ‘Wet Weather Day’ and what areas are open.
On Wet Weather Days, students should not be in the corridors during break times unless they are on their way to or from designated rooms. These rooms may be used for eating lunch and quiet activities during lunch and recess. The Library may also be available for students after they finish eating-if staff are available to supervise. The Café is open each day for students to sit quietly and play passive games.
