ICT @ Glenroy

Staff Laptops
All staff will have the use of a laptop through the DET provision of tools of trade. Any laptops issues are to be directed to the IT technician. All staff must sign an agreement for Acceptable Use and for appropriate use and security.
Student Laptops
All students are required to have their own laptop, to bring it to school and to keep it suitably charged for use during lessons. Students are required to bring their laptop to class. All students MUST have their laptop set up by our IT team before they can access our intranet and the internet. There are also a few families that have arranged for their child/ren to borrow a laptop from the General Office on a daily or as-needed basis.
Logins
School network password - This will be allocated during the induction program
Email - Login based on your @education.vic.gov.au email address and generated password as set by department on employment start. You can then change your password. Passwords are required to be updated every 3 months-staff receive email reminders-Do not ignore.
COMPASS – login as per College network password
Student Logins - Briefing and General Info > Files > Student Usernames and Passwords.
TVs
Each classroom and the conference room has a TV that connects to staff laptops via Air Parrot which needs to be downloaded onto staff laptops. Staff will have the opportunity to receive training in their use by the College IT support staff. All issues need to be promptly reported to the IT technician. With the planned move to new classrooms, projectors will be replaced with large screen TVs throughout 2021.
Printing
All staff are allocated a printing/photocopying budget through their Domain. Staff are issued with an ID card that provides printing from photocopiers. Please note that the College uses security release printing and cards will be required to release printing sent to photocopiers. Photocopier/printers/document centres will be located in Admin, Senior Learning and Library.
There is an expectation that resources are shared where possible, materials are electronically shared with students and printing is kept to a minimum. If, however, funds are depleted during the year, please see Domain Leaders/Business Manager to negotiate additional funds.
Exams, reports and other large print-run documents that are required by the College may be printed through the General Office. Please allow sufficient time for this to be effectively managed.
Resource Drive and Electronic Storage
Staff are advised that, in addition to the Curriculum-based One-Note cloud storage of documents, the College maintains a server-based electronic storage system for College-based documents. This is referred to as the Resources drive and may appear with a few different letters (eg S/T/Q).
During 2020, the majority of documents were saved into Teams and OneNote so the files remaining in Resource drive should be considered as archived files.
This drive is regularly checked and tidied up to remove unnecessary and irrelevant documents/folders as well as move files into relevant folders. Please note that staff should use existing folders on Resources Drive and not create new ones. Personal documents not to be shared with others should be saved into your personal College folder and not on the individual desktop of the machine you use as this is not backed up. For access outside of school time, a hard drive or thumb drive can be used to back up documents-be aware of version control when you create multiple versions of the same document.
In summary, these are the main folders teachers and classroom-based ES may require access to:
- Assessment and reporting-data sets, exams info, communications

- Photographs and media-ALL photographs and videos should be put here with sub-folders in relevant years. Do not keep photos/videos in other folders once they have served their initial class purpose. Media class-specific work is exempted from this requirement. Also-remember to remove College photos/videos from personal mobile cameras and laptops once they have been transferred as needed
