Communication with Parents

Teachers are encouraged to develop communication with parents on class-work issues e.g. standard of work and homework completion. However, teachers should discuss proposed contact with the Level Leader to ensure consistency and professionalism. This will also minimise the possibility of families receiving multiple calls a day from different people.
Teachers must always check with the Level Leader and the Wellbeing Team before making contact on a discipline/welfare issue. Teachers making good news calls and updates should record the contact on COMPASS.
Level Leaders must also record telephone and in-person contact with parents, through COMPASS
Student Planners (issued to every student at start of year) and COMPASS email can also be used to assist with communication between parents and teachers. Teachers may record good news notes, reminders and updates as well as homework required, events to be aware of and other items. Students should be encouraged to develop a regular pattern of referencing planners and making their own notes about work due and items to be remembered.
Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews
Student reports are generated on a regular basis in line with the agreed College timelines.
Parent Teacher interviews occur twice yearly, one per semester as per the college calendar.
