About Paint the Parks and Gardens REaD
An initiative of a community group working together to bring the program "Paint the Parks and Gardens REaD," to children in the areas of Angle Park, Ferryden Park, Mansfield Park, Athol Park and Woodville Gardens. Paint the Parks and Gardens REaD motivates the whole community to read, talk, sing and draw with children from birth every day. (There are similar groups running in NSW, WA, Vic and Qld). This is the first program of its kind in South Australia, based on the program; Paint the Town REaD. Parker visits school, Preschools and community to spread the word that 'reading helps our brain to grow'. Many of our children/families would connect with Parker as he has been the reading mascot in the local area for many years.
