Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,
We are looking forward to welcoming you back to Term 2 next week. I hope you have had a lovely Easter break, filled with family, friends, love and laughter and an abundance of Easter eggs and hot cross buns!
Thank you for your generous donations from the Radcliffe House RSPCA fundraiser on the last day of Term 1. Both staff and students enjoyed their animal dress up day to support a wonderful cause.
A reminder that there are two Public Holidays this term and the College will be closed:
Tuesday 25 April – ANZAC Day
Monday 1 May – Labour Day
The last day of Term 2 is Thursday 15 June, 3:10 pm.
Term 2 resumes on Monday 17 April, with the Primary Interhouse Cross Country Carnival (Years 2-6 only) on Thursday 20 April; the first event for parents this term. A special Prep and Year 1 Cross Country will take place on Thursday 25 May at 11:00am and more details will follow this term.

Andrews Cup (Yrs 2-6 girls only)
Andrews Cup Touch and Tennis event information will be emailed specifically to those students/families directly involved.
Netball, Athletics and Football information including training time, sign-ons etc, will be released later this term through the College App.
Britton Shield (Years 2-7 boys only)
Britton Shield Cross Country, Football and Touch information will be released later this term.

New Students
We are delighted to welcome several new students to the College in Years 1, 4, 5 and 6 this term. We wish them a wonderful beginning as they start their journey at Clayfield College.
School Uniform
Given the current weather, all students in Primary are to return in Term 2 in their Summer uniform. As the weather changes the decision will be made regarding the transition to the winter uniform. We will give two weeks' notice and then there will be a 1 week transition period before it becomes mandatory.

Parent Lounge
Parent Lounge provides up-to-date information on College life. Such information includes your child’s timetable and teachers, policy documents, excursion details, school calendar and parent directory. Parents are also able to update their contact details and child’s medical details, view Report Cards and schedule Parent/Teacher interviews. Please see below a guide that will assist you in navigating key features of Parent Lounge.
Staffing
We are pleased to welcome Mrs Leeta Austin on a more permanent basis to the Primary Staff. Mrs Austin will be teaching EALD (English as an Additional Dialect) for the remainder of the year. She is very well known to our students, as our relief teacher when staff are absent. Mrs Michelle Colonas will be taking Mrs Holman’s Spanish classes for the first few weeks of Term 2, pending the permanent employment of a Primary Spanish teacher. Mrs Colonas has taught Spanish at John Paul College for over 15 years, and we are very fortunate to have her as a relief staff member. It will be lovely to have Mrs Robertson and Mrs Finney’s smiling faces back in Year 2 and Prep, as they return from their Long Service Leave.
Anzac Day
Prep to Year 12 students will be commemorating ANZAC Day with a student/staff Assembly on Friday 21 April. Clayfield College Primary students are encouraged to attend the service at Kalinga Park on 25 April, which has seen the Clayfield community and surrounding suburbs partake for over 100 years. It would be lovely to see as many Clayfield College students attend and join in as we proudly march as a school.
Kalinga Park
7:00am Service
Tuesday 25 April
Please meet Mr Desmarchelier near the gates of Kalinga Park at 6:50 am. Students are required to wear full summer formal uniform (including hat)to represent Clayfield College with pride. We will be meeting outside the gates of Kalinga Park to prepare for the march. The gates can be found at the end of Park Ave where it meets with Digger’s Dve, Clayfield.
House Chapels
All students PP-12 and their families are invited to attend House Chapels on the following days. Students are permitted to wear free dress in House colours.

Mother’s Day Breakfast
Join us for a special Mother’s Day breakfast celebrating all the wonderful mother figures in our lives.
There will be a range of performances from Primary and Secondary students and a delicious menu including:

Mother’s Day Stall
Friday 12 May
Items being sold will be advertised on the Clayfield College App. Children wishing to purchase from the stall are invited to bring in money on the day and their teachers will assist with purchases.
Clubs Program
The Clubs program will begin in Week 2 of Term 2 and information in relation to this will be distributed via The App. Clubs are optional, at no cost to families and the offerings change each term. We are excited to have the Entrepreneur’s Club beginning this term – look out for these details. Debating will also commence this term for students in Years 5 & 6. Further details about auditions will be given to students in Week 1.
Homework Club
Homework Club is available to students from Year 3 onwards in the Lower LRC on Monday to Thursday from 3:15 pm – 5:00 pm. In order to attend, Primary students must be registered via email to studentservices@clayfield.qld.edu.au. Further, Primary students must be signed out by a parent or caregiver from the Lower LRC. Students are not permitted to leave the Lower LRC unattended by a parent or caregiver unless they are moving to a co-curricular activity. Parents must inform Student Services of this activity when registering their child. Thank you so very much for your assistance with these processes, as we aim to keep our students safe.
External Co-Curricular Activities
The following external sports and activities will be available for students to participate in Term 2. Please contact the provider directly for bookings and information. Mrs. David is the College contact for any questions you may have.
Student Representative Council – Easter themed Competitions for UNICEF
The Student Representative Council will continue their Easter-themed competitions during Weeks 1 & 2 of Term 2:
Name the Bunny - for $1, students can enter a name for one of two bunnies into the draw. The winning name will take home the bunny
Guess the number of eggs in the jar – 50c per guess. Clues are also available ($1 for 1 or $2 for 3). Closest guess wins the eggs
Our egg and spoon obstacle course will be set up on Tuesday and Wednesday lunch times for $1 (unlimited tries). Prizes for getting all the way round without dropping your egg!
Money raised will go to UNICEF, to help children in Turkey and Syria affected by the devastating earthquakes.
Gallery Walks
We are looking forward to seeing our families at the Gallery Walks that are scheduled for Term 2. Gallery Walks are part of our collaborative partnership with parents and caregivers as students share their learning. These will be in Weeks 8 and 9 of Term 2 and dates will be shared later in the term.
