2023 House Triathlon & Tug-of-War

What an amazing action-packed way to finish Term 1! The House Triathlon took place in the morning and was followed by the Tug-of-War after lunch.

First XVIII Match Report

Mazenod 12.6 (78) def Sacred Heart College  4.2 (26)

A great start to the Schoolboys Cup for our 1st XVIII side. The boys wore black arm bands in memory of Vincent Ramsay who was a member of the 1984 1st XVIII, and they played with great spirit and respect.

The forward line fired up straight away with Jared H opening the account with his sleeky style. The tall forwards Rocco D and Riley N presented well and kicked 3 each.

The backline made Sacred Heart earn every point and were led solidly by Zaid B and hit hard by the likes of Year 11’s Sacha J and Kade R.

Julian M, Max F and Ben S dominated the center and Taj E added some well delivered aggression.

Enter Year 10-gun Julius P to the paddock and after ripping open a few packs and out marking opposition players twice his size it was obvious then that Sacred Heart was going to have a nice long trip down the hill to Sorrento.

Thank you to assistants Soren, Saxon, Joel, Mr. Hemley and Mr. Ellul.

Goals: North 3, Darbyshire 3, White 2, Henderson 1 , Fasolo 1, Mortensen 1, Hopkins 1.

Best: Parlapiano, Munns, Fasolo, Buckland

Second XVIII Game Write Up

Our first hit out for the 2nd XVIII’s side saw us drop short of Court Grammar School.

2.2.14 – 10.2.62

The boys were challenged from the start by Court Grammar who looked strong and fast, kicking the first 7 goals of the game. Mazza began to settle and started moving the ball with more confidence through the middle. James C was the first to put a major on the board, taking a strong mark 40m out and slotting the goal.

Elijah L took the Captain's honours for the first time, and along with Jevan B, Carlo R and Nick S stood tall in the backline. Josh H and Lachie T took control in the middle, showcasing their physicality and ability to win the inside ball. Year 10 students Morrison H and Isaac P fought hard in the ruck against the bigger opposition.

Thank you to Mr Mallon and Mr Worth for assisting and Mr Henderson for umpiring.

Best - Lachie T,  Josh H,  James C

Mazenod College Junior Soccer Report Game 1

The Mazenod College Junior Soccer Team played their first game of the Champion Schools Football Cup season playing away against Willeton SHS. Both were schools looking to get their seasons off to a good start in the regional pennant’s competition. It was a back and forth contest with both teams creating several chances throughout the game. Mazenod scored the first goal through Lucas R followed by Luke H scoring the second.

The second half was much the same as the first with both teams creating chances, however Willeton were able to score the equalising goal with 5 minutes left, and ran out the game with a 2-2 draw. The team would like to thank all the parents who came down to help and support the team. The team 's next game is against Kelmscott SHS on Wednesday 10th May at Mazenod.

Congratulations!

Huge congratulations to Year 8 students Zai P, Noah H and Marcello P, for representing Australia in U14s International basketball tournament which was held at the Gess German European School in Singapore over the school holidays. Boys from Team Mamba Perth played amazing basketball,  going undefeated in all 7 games played, and coming home with a well deserved grand final win!! Well done Team Mamba and boys from Mazenod College.
