Anyone who tipped Sydney and Adelaide will probably still be feeling a little aggrieved this morning. Those results combined with a couple of upsets led to scores being a little lower than predicted. As it turns out we had seven people who picked seven winners with a further 44 people picking six winners. Of those that tipped seven, Paul Ambrose (Class of 2002) and Peter Gurry (Class of 1987) were both only two points off the margin in Port Adelaide’s narrow win over St Kilda and as such share the weekly prize and get $25 each. Congratulations Paul and Peter.
With regards to the overall leader board Brady Rafferty (Class of 2021) remains out in front on 46, Jeremy Logan (Class of 1987) and Paul Van Luxemborg sit equal second on 44 with a further five people on 43.
Round eight kicks off Friday night with what on paper is the game of the round.
Carlton v Brisbane
Carlton can expect a much tougher contest than they had on Saturday night and they lost to Brisbane the last time these teams met at Marvel Stadium;
Richmond v West Coast
Question - What opponent do you want after you have lost five games in a row?
Answer – To play West Coast at your home ground. The perfect game for Richmond to bounce back, the Eagles need to show some fight after last week’s horror show;
Geelong v Adelaide
After a slow start to the season Geelong has now won four in a row and they don’t lose many at GMHBA stadium. That said Adelaide has been one of the big improvers in season 2023;
Gold Coast v Melbourne
We all know Gold Coast are a much better side at home, but they haven’t beaten Melbourne at home since 2013;
GWS v Western Bulldogs
GWS pulled of a great win over Sydney but they will need to improve on that to get over the top of the Bulldogs;
Fremantle v Hawthorn
Fremantle desperately need a win but Hawthorn will push them all the way;
Port Adelaide v Essendon
A big game for both sides as they try to establish their credentials as genuine finals contenders;
Collingwood v Sydney
Collingwood did it again. You have to give this side some credit, away from home and only a five day break they managed a last minute win over Adelaide. Sydney on the other hand suffered a last minute loss; and
North Melbourne v St Kilda
North were almost as bad as the Eagles and St Kilda will be glad they get to play a team in the bottom four.
