Houses/Interschool Sport Report
Congratulations to our Senior Girls Hockey team who are State Runners-Up after competing at the SSV State Hockey Competition on Tuesday 23 of August. It has been an amazing journey for as many as 8 of these students, winning 3 state titles and being runners-up once in the 6 years they have represented Koonung:

Well done to Mr Kofoed on his coaching and mentoring of this team of girls over the years. Our College is very proud of this remarkable team and their achievements and they will always remain part of Koonung sporting history.
On Tuesday the 28 August, 102 Koonung students participated in the Whitehorse Division Track and Field Competition at Tom Kelly Reserve in Doncaster East. The sunny conditions allowed for tough competition and our school performed extremely well on the day. The final standings were:
1824 - Blackburn HS
1263 – Box Hill HS
1071 - Koonung SC
1064 - East Doncaster SC
665 - Box Hill SSC
A big thank you to Mrs Howe, Dr McKie, Nilesh Rohit (Teacher Candidate) and Meg Collins (Teacher Candidate) who assisted with duties on the day.
Congratulations to the following 15 students who have qualified for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Finals Competition on the 12 October. They will be representing Koonung in a total of 22 events:

Special mention must go to Sophie Zarafa who broke 2 records on the day:
- Female 13 Year Triple Jump 10.08m Old Record: 9.99m 2015
- Female 13Yr Long Jump 4.67m Old Record: 4.56m 2017
Five Koonung students (Year 7 - Tinka Schmid, Lily Alday, Year 10 - Claire Lumsden, Ella Morrison and Harrison Vavra) competed at the State Secondary All Schools Gymnastics Competition in Altona North on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th of September. There were over 600 students competing in all age groups and divisions at this competition, which spanned 4 days.
Congratulations to Lily and Harrison who achieved 5th placing in their respective divisions. Both students had their competitions starting at 8am so it was an early start for them!
A big thank you to Mrs Jill Wright who attended on both days, giving our students invaluable coaching tips in preparation for their routines. The students were very appreciative of her support and assistance on the day. In addition, I would like to thank the parents of these students who organized to drive their children to and from the venue.
Next Tuesday, 11 September, it is the Year 8 Whitehorse Division Competitions for Hockey, Table Tennis and Basketball.
The following week on Thursday 20 September, Year 7 students will compete in these sports. This competition concludes Interschool Sport for our school for Term 3.

Well done Emily!
Congratulations to Emily Bacon who has achieved outstanding success in football this year. Emily has been awarded the Inaugural Oakleigh Charger Football Club 2018 Yarra Junior Football League Female Player of the Year Award. Emily achieved this award as a result of her hard work, fantastic attitude, infectious personality, motivated and natural leader and captain of the U15 YJFL Metropolitan Championship team. Well done Emily!
