Time and Organisation Management

Term 2 is well underway and students are working hard. Assessments and class work is building up and students are being assisted to manage their time and organisation in order to keep up and not become overwhelmed with it all. Students should have a quiet space at home to work and there should be a dedicated homework time put aside every night. Students who say they have no homework should be reading and revising the days content. To try and balance their lives students should have some ‘down time’ so having a hobby outside of school is important also.

Middle School Play

Last week the Middle School presented their production of Roald Dahl’s, 'The Witches'. It was a great event. The students have worked so hard and have been committed in their work. Congratulations to all that were involved, whether it was on stage, back stage or in the audience. A fantastic effort by Dunhelen and a very big thank you to Ms Flood, the Director of this production.

Dunhelen House Athletics

The Dunhelen House Athletics was held on Wednesday 8 May. Despite the weather being a little cool, it was a great day. The students participated and cheered on their houses and were so very well behaved and encouraging all day. It was nice to see students working as house teams and not individuals. A big thank you to Mrs Wachter and Mrs Dowling for organising the day. Final results were:

  • Cameron – 2,209
  • Millar – 1,897
  • Brodie – 1,806
  • Clarke – 1,696

NAPLAN

NAPLAN commenced this week for students in Year 7 and Year 9. While they are an important testing tool, students were reminded not to stress and all that was asked of them was to try their best. The tests are not meant to be stressful but rather an indicator of how your child is progressing. It is important to note that the results of NAPLAN do not impact on your child’s school report.  If your child is feeling a little overwhelmed please do explain to them that it is an indicator of their progress and not a determiner of their future.
