Middle School Play
Last week we welcomed almost 400 people to enjoy Roald Dahl’s humorous and just a touch scary, 'The Witches'. Congratulations to the students from Years 7, 8 and 9 who undertook onstage roles and the Year 10 Theatrecraft class who were responsible for the design and operation of the show. They were supported by the Director and their class teacher, Ms Jacqueline Flood. We hope those involved in the production will feel encouraged to get involved in future productions or undertake further study in Drama and Theatre.
VET Music Industry Night
On Wednesday night of this week, thirteen Year 11 and seven Year 12 Music students took to the stage in the first of two Music Industry Nights. Part of the assessment for VET Music Performance is that students gain real world experience of performing in a range of venues. This week’s concert was held at Highgate Recreation Reserve in Craigieburn. Close to 100 people enjoyed a wide variety of performances; both solo and group.
Thanks to class teachers Mrs Stephanie Abela and Mr Nick Frampton who were also supported by our College accompanist Ms Robyn Cole. Set up and operation for the evening was undertaken by the Sound Production students while the Hospitality and Catering Group, under the direction of Ms Deborah Garlick and her assistants, Mrs Doris White and Ms Emma Hannah, provided the catering for the night. The next Industry Night will be our annual trek to The Spotted Mallard in Sydney Road on Monday 9 September.
VCE Theatre Studies Production
Come along and be immersed in the scary world of 'Frankenstein' and his monster. The VCE Theatre Studies class selected this play for their major assessment as it gave them so much scope to design and develop stage crafts. It was also the opportunity to push the boundaries of conventional theatre, shock your senses and transport you to a place possibly not too distant from the future! Frankenstein is one of those stories everyone knows; where a creature turns on his creator. There are three performances; 7.30pm on Thursday 23 May and Saturday 25 May and 3.30pm school matinee on Friday 24 May.
The production will be presented in the round, meaning that only forty seats are available to each performance. Entry will be via the side doors of the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre. Please follow signs. Tickets are $16.50 adults, $11.00 students/children or a family of four for $55.00 (plus booking fees) from

Winter Music Soiree and Emerging Performers Showcase
These two concerts are an amazing opportunity to see the progress of students in music; both classroom and private instrumental lessons. In two performances, close to 100 students across both Primary and Secondary will take to the Chapel and Performing Arts stage.
The first is the Winter Music Soiree which will commence at 7.30pm on Thursday 6 June. This show features students from our senior music classes, some of our ensembles, solo and group performances and a sneak peak of this year’s College Musical. While tickets are free, bookings are still required, so head over to https://www.trybooking.com/BCRZZ and secure your seats
In the Emerging Performers Showcase, many students will be taking to the stage for the first time. This concert will commence immediately after school at 3.30pm on Thursday 13 June, and will also feature many Primary students and ensembles. Again, there is no charge to attend this concert and audience members are welcome to show up on the afternoon.
College Musical
Bookings for this year’s College Musical, the outrageously funny, 'Monty Python’s Spamalot' will open to the General Public on Monday 10 June. This year, however, we are offering Aitken families the chance to pre-book tickets for two dedicated performances from Saturday 1 June.
For the second performance only, on Saturday 27 July at 7.30pm, using the promotional code PATSY, the Aitken community can access a family of four ticket for $60, saving $30. On 10 June, this code will no longer apply and tickets will return to their regular prices.
For the Thursday afternoon matinee on Thursday 1 August at 4.00pm, all tickets will be $20. This price is available throughout the booking period but only on this one performance.
Regular ticket prices will be $27.50 adults, $22.00 concession and $90.00 for a Family of Four. There are five performances; 7.30pm on Friday 26 July and Saturday 27 July, 4.00pm on Thursday 1 August, 7.30pm on Friday 2 August and finally 2.00pm on Saturday 3 August. Go to https://www.trybooking.com/BASFI but get in fast. You won’t want to miss this wonderfully funny show, which is suitable for the whole family, despite some ‘naughty’ words being used.
