MEN

By Hugh McLaughlin

Below is from a post Hugh McLaughlin put on the Men's facebook page last week which is extremely relevant at this time so we'd thought we'd share it via TEMpo.

As a Club we have always put a huge emphasis on supporting each other. As the current situation for lots of us is becoming harder whether it be financial, social or physical. I think it’s ever so important to remind ourselves of a few keys things:

1. It is ok not to be ok- everyone struggles- our struggles are on a spectrum and that’s ok but you don’t need to feel guilty for feeling down even though your situation might be better than someone else- allow yourself time to feel frustrated, angry, sad.

2. Isolation doesn’t mean alone- we are all here for each other, no matter if we have known each other for 10 minutes or 10 years- that’s what culture is and that’s what this section is.

3. It’s not ok not to talk- being a man doesn’t mean keeping it in- find someone to talk to, a friend, family member or someone at work.

4. Be kind to yourself- we are all humans, we are all just doing the best we can!

Reach out to a few friends on the back of this and just ask “how are you going” or remind them that you love them.

Just a little quote to finish off:

“Maybe I can’t stop the downpour; but I can always join you for a walk in the rain.”
