Faith and Mission

In an exciting announcement, Marian College will be participating in a unique real world media project where some of our students will be co-hosting their own live radio show on global radio station LIVE FM, during Catholic Education Week which is held next week.

In an innovative media project, LIVE FM will be airing radio shows 24 hours-a-day during the week, co-hosted and managed by students in 30 Catholic schools in Melbourne, and broadcast across their neighbourhood and the world.

Our girls will be commercial radio trained and will work in media teams to present, produce and promote the radio program to a local and global audience. As part of their work they have organised interviews with our Principal, Mr Pisani, and other staff members who have a leadership role in our College. Hopefully the end result will be an entertaining and informative radio show that their listeners will love.

By participating in the LIVE FM broadcast, Marian College and its students aim to tell the story of the school’s history, values, learning  and teaching programs, faith-based education, connections with its community and the passion and pride of our teachers, parents and students.

Ralph Barba who is the Executive Producer of LIVE FM says, “At the core of 21st century teaching and learning is providing students with real world connections and experiences. Having students co-host live radio shows that focus on issues that are relevant to them and their community, and have their work broadcast across the globe, provides them with the ultimate authentic real-world experience”.

Marian College will be broadcasting live from the Catholic Leadership Centre, Victoria Parade East Melbourne. The broadcast will involve student leaders of our Year 12 cohort on Wednesday 18 March commencing at 12.00 midday. You can listen to LIVE FM on www.livefm.online.
