Rugby Union NSW 7’s
Calrossy had three teams qualify to compete at the NSW Rugby Union 7’s NSW Championships held in Newcastle on Tuesday 24th September.
Our Under 17 girls’ team competed against Hunter Valley Grammar School going down by one try and Mudgee High School, a comprehensive victory in their pool games, qualifying to play Terrigal in the playoff rounds. After a very physical game, Terrigal eventually emerged victorious.
Our Under 15 boys’ team played three game in their pool against St Johns Dubbo, Hills Sports High and St Edwards Gosford. Although out sized in all games the team played till the final bell showing a solid skill set and teamwork.
Our Under 17 boys’ team played against a large mobile and skilled Hills Sport High and had a hard fought one try loss to Kiama High School. Hills and Kiama eventually played in the final of the competition.
All of our teams showed that they are very competitive in an elite pool of Rugby schools. Many of our players will be eligible to play again next year in the same age group and I look forward to seeing our improvement once again.
Thank you to Mrs Erin Moore, Mr Tyler Gallienne, Miss Lasker, Miss Wilmont and Mr Starr for coaching our teams in the tournament.
