Message from the Principal

Farewell to our Year 12's

The final weeks of Term 3 have been focussed on farewells and finishing well for our Year 12s. Students enjoyed a formal Principal’s lunch, visits to Calrossy Primary Assembly and the Calrossy Preschool, a walk up Flagstaff Mountain, time away on ‘retreat’, paintball and a series of campus ceremonies and the formal Graduation Service. The Hon. John Anderson was our guest speaker. The Valedictory Dinner/Ball on Friday night is the final event of the farewells. The week was the culmination of 13 years of formal schooling.

There were many highlights and for some it was an emotional ‘roller-coaster ride’, as the many memories and shared experiences came flooding back, all in the realisation that this part of their lives has finished. The assemblies in which boys and girls farewelled students on the respective campuses yesterday were moving and we enjoyed a formal graduation in the Peter Chiswell Hall. Many thanks to Prue Hartigan (Calrossy 1964) and Jack Massey (2009) for their support in presenting alumni gifts to the graduating students, reminding them of the long history of which they are now part.

Another important element of the ceremonies was to hand over leadership to Year 11 students who now formally move into their final year of schooling.

Year 12 have the holidays and a short break for study before undertaking the HSC examinations early in Term 4. The thoughts and prayers of the whole school community go with these students who have worked hard and represented the school with distinction as Year 12 leaders in the Secondary school.

Many thanks to Mr Eliot Sanger, Mrs Dianne Cameron, Mr Hugh Howey, Mrs Dimity Saunders (PA to the Head of Secondary), the Year 12 Leaders of Wellbeing Mrs Julie Murrie and Mr Todd McDonald and Rev. Stephen Price and the many other staff involved for their support of the final week of school and for the ceremonies for Year 12.

Grandparents Day

We enjoyed a delightful series of Grandparent Days across the school, including the Primary and our Secondary Campuses. The students performed proudly and loved having their grandparents to be part of a special day. It reinforced the importance of special family relationships and the role that older and wiser family members take in the growth and development of students.

Congratulations

Year 12 student Lauren Jessup-Little has been nominated to perform in the Encore concert in 2019, featuring the top music students, based on her recent HSC Music performance.
