Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Meet the Teacher sessions

A reminder that Meet and Greets are next Tuesday and Wednesday and can be booked through Compass.

Whilst 10 minutes doesn’t seem like a long time, these meetings are a great opportunity to meet with your child’s home group teacher, share bits and pieces of information with them and hear how they have settled into the school year.

If you have any difficulties making a booking or have any questions, please give Jesse or Nicole a call in the office.

Positive Home and School Partnerships

At Armstrong Creek School we highly value the role parents and families play in supporting student learning and our positive school culture.

There are many opportunities throughout the year to get involved in the school in some way, shape or form, but the most common one is through the relationships families have with school staff on a day to day basis.

To ensure that this is achieved, clear, positive and effective communication is essential. In an organisation/community our size (and growing), this is not always seamless and we all play a role in working through those times where things may not have ‘gone to plan’. Further in the Newsletter you can find the process to follow should you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for supporting our school community to continue to develop into the high quality, welcoming and positive school that we all want for our children and broader community.

Student Leadership and Voice at ACS

Today we held our Student Representative Council elections and the first stage of our School Captain selections.

The Victorian Electoral Commission came along to support the process; explaining the importance of voting within our democracy as well as giving students the experience of preferential voting using real ballot papers and voting boxes.

It was fantastic to see so many students take part in this and sharing how they uphold our school values of Care, Collaboration and Commitment. We expect that we will be able to announce our 2020 school leaders to the school community at next week’s assembly.

Community Picnic

On Friday 28 of February, we will be opening up the school gates from 5.30 - 7.30 for an informal ACS Community Picnic.

A flyer has been sent out through Compass and Facebook and can also be found below. This is really an opportunity for families both new and old, to come together and ‘hang out in the playground’ with a picnic rug / chairs, some food and drinks.

There will be various bits of sporting and games equipment for families to get busy with and some of our 5-6 students will be on hand to lead some games for interested children and families.

In a growth area like Armstrong Creek, we know many people have relocated to the area and don’t know a lot of people. We hope this is an opportunity to welcome new members of the community and potentially begin to develop new friendships.

Have a great weekend!
